The past few weeks, I have been sharing with you some fun things that I have been enjoying and liking. One could call it a little mini series of things that I am loving lately. These items are things that fall into the categories that I deem important to me: faith, family, fitness, food and fun!
Without further a do, you can always check back to the previous things I am loving lately to see some other great things… or you can read below to find out what I am loving this week:
faith
I am doing two Bible studies this summer. One of the studies I am doing is Beth Moore’s Daniel study. This study is unlike any I have taken in a while. It is a no holds bar… hold on to your hat and dig into the Word style study. It isn’t a self-help style study… but more what does God have to say about prophesy and Babylonian times.
It has given me pause many times when comparing my culture to that of Babylonia. It is crazy to think that even though it has been thousands of years… we (as a society) still pretty much value the same things: money, looks, education, and status.
She also discussed image builders. This struck a chord with me, because I hope to NOT be an image builder… but to be true in every sense of the word with my family, fitness, faith, and with YOU!
“If you and I, in truth, are different than what we seem… We are image builders. Image building is any way we intentionally make ourselves seem different – and usually more – than we really are. Image building is the attempt to make impressions that are bigger than we are. Image building may begin with what is true but enhances that truth until it is a lie.” Beth Moore
Oh how I do NOT want to be an image builder. I want to be true to me. I want to be used by God to be the woman He wants me to be… not what man wants me to be.
family
Life is busy and I am finding that unless I stop and make time for family it doesn’t happen. After church on Sunday, I told my husband that I would like to go on a family hike. He agreed and was excited to spend quality time with our crew. We headed out to Folsom Lake to explore a new (to us) trail.
The boys had a great time hiking, enjoying nature, using their imaginations, and just enjoying the freedom that the great outdoors gives you. I enjoyed watching the boys in their wild element of fighting imaginary bad guys and hunting mountain lions (be still my heart – there WERE sightings! Yikes!).
fitness
It is hot in northern California. Hearing my sweaty betty cries, I was sent a package of MISSION EnduraCool Instant Cooling Towels to review and share my opinions with you. This is unlike any other towel I have used before. It uses chemical-free technology that instantly cools when wet! This is a perfect helpmate when heading out on the track or those long runs in the warmer temperatures!
These new products are powered by the patented Coolcore technology and deliver three distinct functions to reduce the fabric’s surface temperature up to 30 degrees.
food
I recently checked out the book, Everyday Paleo from my local library. I have been interested in the whole paleo diet and lifestyle. I am not a big meat eater, but was intrigued when I saw how simple and YUMMY the recipes and meal plans were! I decided to make the leap and make two recipes out of this book.
I made the egg cupcakes and the meatloaf. BOTH were super yummy and HUGE hits in my house. I WILL be making these recipes again! The meatloaf didn’t photograph well (again I am not a food blogger). But I will say that BOTH recipes were enjoyed, eaten quickly and will be made again.
fun
The boys and I head to the library on a weekly basis as a part of our summer routine. They love the library. They love to read and learn new things… mostly about wars, soldiers and guns. Sigh… boys.
While at the library yesterday we were surprised to find they had a magician visiting and doing a show. We decided to take a break from picking out books and headed in to watch the funny magic man do his tricks.
The boys (and Mommy) were mesmerized and entertained. He was funny, comical and full of life. He tricked me many times too! The boys (and I) couldn’t stop talking about the funny magic man when Daddy came home too. This was totally a FUN and impromptu activity from this week!

Healthy living is the way to go! Food habits are extremely important to maintain overall health. Without exercise it is really difficult to maintain one’s health. I find that because of lack of time it is really difficult to maintain a regular excising schedule. I like doing simple things like walking up the stairs instead of taking the lift to help keep fit. I keep track of them using Motivade.
