Happy handstand Friday! Each Friday in the year 2013, I have challenged myself and YOU to attempt and photograph yourself doing a handstand. This not only a fun strength challenge, but with the photographs you will be able to see (visually) how much stronger you are getting!!
Earlier this week, I met one of my good friends, Tammy, and her boys for a casual hike around the lake. She and her boys have been joining me for handstand Friday… and we thought it would be fun to spice things up a bit for handstand Friday!
On our way back from our hike, we crossed this foot bridge. We looked at each other and both thought that it would be a super fun and awesome place to rock out a joint handstand. My 7 year old son took the photo for us. Amazingly we both are in sync and are up at the same time.
If you want to boost my ego a bit you can almost tell that I am almost doing a one handed handstand in the photo on the right. It wasn’t on purpose… and I was totally walking to stay upright. BUT it kind of counts, right? I know… it is a goal that I am working on. Handstand pushup and one handed handstand!
The little boys had to join in on the upside down – handstand – fun also. We had two 7 year olds, one almost 5 year old, and one 3 year old. My T-man didn’t feel up for the upside down challenge at that part of the hike. As you can tell… the two big boys thought it was hilarious and really got into it. They even decided to challenge themselves with a reverse supported handstand and posed for the second photo on the right. Silly boys.
As always, I would love for you to join me in my upside down quest to do a handstand and photograph yourself doing it. Feel free to tag me on facebook, twitter, or instagram (#handstandfriday).
I am always excited to see my readers challenge themselves and go outside of their comfort zone with these fitness challenges. Want to join in and don’t know where to begin? Check out this post I wrote last week on how to do a handstand… pushup. There I share gradual steps to doing a handstand and an eventual handstand pushup.

I wish I could do a handstand. I need lots of help to get there and a wall to hold me up!

Being a former gymnast, I love handstands! Haven’t done one in a while though. Might be time to change that…
