A few weeks ago, I was offered to try out and review the product MitoQ. MitoQ is a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant. It claims that it has found a way to deliver an anti-oxidant right to the place where 90-95% of your cell’s free radicals are generated. This fact alone peaked my interest, as I have shared with you my aging skin saga and heart rate woes.
I will be honest, I am terrible at remembering to take my vitamins, pills, and even putting on my anti-aging creams. I buy them… I just forget to use them. So my experience and results are not exact, but I like what I have experienced so far to continue.
What is MitoQ?
MitoQ is a brand new type of antioxidant called a mitochondria-targeted anti-oxidant. This exciting new supplement was developed in New Zealand at Otago University, Dunedin. Check out this super informative info graphic explaining what exactly is mitochondria: Meet Your Mitochondria.
Why is MitoQ an important breakthrough?
Because mitochondria are the tiny organelles in your cells that generate the energy your body needs to work well and this is the first time anyone has been able to deliver high levels of anti-oxidants to them. Keeping mitochondria healthy is one of the best things you can do for your health. MitoQ will literally give your more energy and, potentially, slow down the aging process. MitoQ has been extensively researched in America and around the world over the last decade and now is being made available to consumers.
The Science Behind MitoQ
The science, research and feedback from users shows that it is a breakthrough that may make a real difference in the anti-aging and health space. The secret is that MitoQ restores your cellular batteries, your mitochondria and that should be of interest to anyone over the age of 40 as it will give you the feeling of more energy and it gives your body and organs more energy to do the tasks they are designed to do.
MitoQ is a revolutionary new form of CoQ10 that targets mitochondria, your cellular batteries – it is scientifically proven to be 847 times more effective than CoQ10! MitoQ is backed by over $50million in research and has over 200 papers published investigating its effect.
This interesting fact alone is one that has me super intrigued. I am curious if my success in my heart rate training the past few weeks is attributed to taking the MitoQ pills. This in addition to eating healthier of course. BUT it is something that I find fascinating and am wondering if there is a connection.
Mitochondria and Aging
Healthy mitochondria are vital because they give your cells and organs the energy they need to function well. Mitochondria are responsible for taking 90-95% of the energy in your cells and in the process produce 90-95% of the free radicals. For this reason mitochondria need very good antioxidant protection. This protection declines over time leading to less effective mitochondria and free radicals spilling into the cell causing damage to cell contents and our DNA.
MitoQ supports mitochondrial function and also reduces free radical damage in the cell. Our mitochondria reduce in function around 10% every decade. This means your cells don’t get the energy they need as we age. We see this in our skin but it is happening to our other organs to.
MitoQ boosts mitochondrial function to deliver more energy to your cells so that they can act like they did when you were younger.
I received two bottles of the MitoQ 5mg Targeted Anti-oxidant bottles and a bottle of their anti-aging cream. Two capsules each morning help target and protect mitochondria, the cellular power plant, to reduce oxidative stress and support organ health, energy and healthy aging.
I am not a fashion and beauty blogger, but I do want to share that I tried and really liked the anti-aging serum. You simply use one or two pumps morning and night on a clean face. You can use alone or mix with your current moisturizer to apply. I’d like to think that after a few weeks of (inconsistent use ) my face looks younger with less signs of aging.
I am very interested in learning more about the science behind MitoQ and my health. If this product claims to boost energy, look and feel better, and reduce the signs of aging… I am game to try it! Plus, like I mentioned above, I am wondering if me taking two capsules a day is having a positive effect on my heart rate training (running with a lower heart rate while running faster not harder).
Have you tried anti-oxidant products before?
