I have decided to continue this year with the handstand Friday challenge. I have been sharing my handstand photos on instagram and on my facebook page. I have enjoyed continuing this challenge as well as challenging myself to hold the handstand position longer.
Yesterday, on facebook I asked if anyone was going to be joining me for handstand Friday. My friend Sarah commented stating that she would join me at the park that morning for our (kids) park play date. I was excited to have a friend join me. I was thinking it would just be a side by side handstand photo.
No. She was clever. She had a plan. She wanted to stretch and challenge me with our handstand photo for the week. It was fun too.
She wanted to do a handstand where we had our feet touching. I was hesitant. She was confident. I am glad we had friends to help and get us going.
A few of our friends watched the kids: to make sure they didn’t run off, were safe, and did not get underfoot. My friend Kristie manned the camera, while Winnie helped guide our feet/legs to where they needed to go.
Once we were up, Winnie guided our feet to the correct positions. Sarah and I leaned in to each other for support. Then Winnie ran out of the camera frame for us to hold the position for a few seconds while Kristie snapped the photo.
As with the magic of photography, we only held this position for a few seconds. Shortly after we fell in a crumbled heap laughing hysterically. Who knew two thirty something mamas could hang out upside down on a Friday at the park… just like their young children.
I have done my handstand photos with friends (and even children) before. Normally we are next to each other doing our own thing. This was a first for me. It was a challenge. Although it only lasted a few seconds… the new challenge was super fun! I am glad I stepped outside of my comfort zone and tried something new!
