I will be honest, fitting in fitness has been very low on the priority list lately. With less than 10 weeks to the Boston Marathon… it is really time for this mama to embrace the cold, hills, and pushing the jogger for training.
Last week I purchased the necessary cold weather running gear (i.e. jacket, windbreaker, gloves, cold wear tights, buff, hat, and more!). I am prepared! All my midweek runs will be pushing T-man in the jogger. No more treadmill access in the warm (wind free) gym. This mama will be tough both physically and mentally!
We finally have everything unloaded from the truck and pod… now it is all in boxes in the house and garage. Oh boy. I love to unpack and organize… but am so scatterbrained when it comes to completing a task. Remember a few weeks ago when I was packing… yes, unpacking is just as bad. Ha! I have partially unpacked boxes and rooms all through the house.
My parents drove up to help us unload the POD. After we hit our limit with trying to figure out what were in mis-matched and non-labeled boxes (woopsie), we headed downtown Kansas City. We explored Crown Center and enjoyed walking outside enjoying the beautiful day! We enjoyed lunch at the Crayola Café… super cute (but not necessarily the tastiest food IMHO).
Regarding fitness last week… it was a #wycwyc type of week! I got two runs in and no strength. Sigh. I really need to make cross training and strength training (doing the LJFitChallenge) a priority too!
Last Week’s Fitness Plan (What I did):
Monday:
Tuesday: 5 miles hill repeats while pushing T in jogger
Wednesday:
Thursday:
Friday: 2 mile easy run while pushing T in jogger
Saturday: Unpacked the POD (lots of lifting and movement)
Sunday: explored downtown Kansas City with the family (lots of walking)
This week I am hoping to be motivated and organized. Our routine and schedule are slowly coming into place. I need to figure out where we packed my DVDs (trying to figure out if I will do PiYo, BodyPump or Insanity Max:30 for my cross training). AND… I need to figure out where my weights are buried in the garage. Ah the adventure of moving and getting organized!
To kick start my week on the right foot… I did last weeks scheduled long run this morning while pushing T in the jogger. I ran the Smoke & Davey trail to Backbone Trail. Holy Hills and winding trails. Gorgeous. Chilly. There was no one out there but me and the Tman. Kind of eerie yet relaxing at the same time.
This Week’s Fitness Plan (what I plan to do):
Monday: 13 mile long slow run while pushing T in jogger
Tuesday: 3 mile recovery jog/walk while pushing T in jogger + LJ strength
Wednesday: 8 miles attempted faster pace/tempo while pushing T in jogger + core
Thursday: strength + core
Friday: 3 mile jog while chasing boys on bikes (or family bike ride) + LJ strength
Saturday: 15-17 miles preferably solo!
Sunday: active rest + unpacking
I really really want and need to run solo (it has been too long). I also really really need to add and do strength training. I know that running hills are great… but my core and other muscles really could use a challenge too!
Running hills.
Pushing a jogger.
Running in freezing temperatures.
Adjusting to our new normal.
No more excuses. I will fit in fitness and be successful with my health and fitness goals.

I think we all get off track once in a while and with your move its totally understandable. Though with 10 weeks until Boston I guess it is crunch time. You’ve got lots of virtual support 🙂 Get at your goals girl!

You have a lot going on friend! I am amazed you got so much in with the move and organizing everything. Boston in 10 weeks so exciting!

I really have never struggles with staying on track. I never “miss” or skip a workout. They just always happen no matter what and are part of my life. Haha!

I so hear you about the lack of motivation to exercise during the cold (and dark!) winter months. Although I’m not a runner, I too find it easy to burrow down under the covers rather than head to the gym some mornings…
I’m betting that we’ll both feel more motivated and inspired once spring gets here! Until then, lace up those shoes and get moving!

Moving really throws off your schedule – i remember that! I think having Boston on the horizon will help you get back though 🙂 One day at a time!!
