As we wind down the month of November, and start up the exciting magical month of December… I have been enjoying doing a quick recap of scenes from our week. This week I pretty much did the same thing each day, iced my foot… but there are some things that I didn’t share or write about. Here are a few scenes from our week.
Monday
Visited my local Fleet Feet. Purchased new running shoes (2 weeks before the race)!! Had trigger point therapy applied to my calf for the first time and was amazed at how effective it was!
Story of my running week is pretty much rest, rolling, and icing my foot. It is feeling MUCH better… however, I am not going to take any chances.
I am still icing my foot 3x a day and rolling/stretching as much as possible. I need to run pain free and I need to focus on healing my aching foot before CIM!
Tuesday
Visited my local chiropractor to adjust me and have a look at my foot. Not broken. Praise God! However, he didn’t diagnose or share why there is sensitivity/pain when I run. He hooked me up to some electrodes and wrapped me with kinesiology tape.
I tested out my new shoes and newly adjusted body and foot… and the tape for an easy 3 mile run on the treadmill. There was sensitivity in the bottom of my foot… but no pain!
Spent most of my time rolling and stretching at the gym. I have a feeling this is the story of my training at this point. Stretch, roll and ice!
Wednesday
As a FitFluential Ambassador, occasionally I am sent products to try out before they are released. I was sent a pair of Mizuno Wave Rider 17, and I am in love!
I love their support, cushion and feel! I am working on my review to share with you my full opinion (the next few days I will share!). So far these shoes are by far the most comfortable pair of shoes I currently own!
I have been wearing these around the house and all.day.long. These shoes make my aching foot very happy and not so sore!
Thursday
Our Thanksgiving Day was spent running. The two youngest boys ran their first road race. One loved it. The youngest wasn’t a fan of being left behind.
The boys wore their finishers medal all day… and even throughout the week! They were proud of their accomplishment, as am I!
That afternoon, I ran on the road for the first time since the previous weekend (painful foot run). I had little to no pain. Praise! The only time I noticed my foot sensitivity is when my stride was longer and I was increasing my tempo. When I kept the stride short and had quick feet I had less pain.
So far so good running in my new Kinvara4 shoes. I am running happy. I do love running. Thankful for running. Running with less pain makes me happy.
Friday
It wouldn’t be a Friday without doing a handstand for handstand Friday!
We didn’t brave the crowds to score any great deals. We didn’t buy anything. Well… we did visit my local Fleet Feet (again). But this time I returned a product instead of buying something. I think I was the only person in the store doing that.
The boys and I did drive around and see people decorating for Christmas. They are getting super excited and eager to start decorating our own home soon.
Saturday
My foot was feeling better. Not completely pain free, but less achy. I decided to give it a spin and shoot for an easy 8-10 mile run. The first few miles were pain free and easy. I kept my pace conservative and comfortable.
Around mile 6-7 I started to feel the bottom of my achy foot again. I decided not to push it and called it good at 7.4 miles. I then walked the remainder distance to the gym.
While at the gym I stretched, rolled, and iced my feet and ankles in the gyms outdoor pool. I am not sure what the temperature of the water was … but it was cold … and ice bath worthy.
As you can tell, my week was primarily about running, resting, icing and rolling. Now that December is here, I am hopeful that I will remember to take photos to share with you some of our holiday traditions too! I hope you have a fantastic week!
