Happy Friday! Each week, in the year 2013, I have challenged myself (and YOU) to attempt, do, and photograph yourself doing a handstand. It is my hope that with each passing week we will gain upper body and core strength, balance and flexibility. I have found that in just the few short weeks of me taking part in this challenge, I have been able to hold my handstand position longer and with tighter form.
And for all your Mommy’s out there… remember your children are always watching you. You are a role model for healthy living and active lifestyle. Stepping outside your comfort zone and attempting something that scares and challenges you… could be just the thing that inspires your children to live out their dreams.
Yesterday afternoon, I was attempting my handstand photos while the boys were playing outside. It was a beautiful day and no one was willing to be my photographer. I had to make do and use my Camera+ iPhone app timer to take my photos. I forgot how hard it was to hold a handstand in order to get a photo of me actually in the air.
There were many failed attempts to get the perfect shot at my handstand. Many times the camera was taking it as I was making my approach or decent. Sometimes I was walking on my hands trying my hardest to stay upright (or upside down).
Handstands are hard. But the important thing is to keep trying. Keep doing your best. Push your own limit. If you are not at the physical level that I am with my handstands… start out with a headstand or attempting to hold your body weight on a box. For more information check out my post from earlier this week on how to do a handstand… pushup.
As always… I would love for YOU to join me in my handstand challenge!! Feel free to tag me on facebook, twitter, instagram, or if you have a blog and write a post (please link back to me and/or) leave your link in the comments below).

haha a whole post on handstands. Love it. I’ve recently started to do a lot more exercises that involve me being inverted. If you’ve never tried a wall-climb its a great way to not only build up the strength needed, but to also get comfortable being upside down. I’m sure you can find it on youtube. Thanks have a good wknd.

You still got some great pics! I haven’t done a handstand in twenty years. Kind of afraid to try.

Amazing handstands. When I was little I was the queen of headstands I could stay in them forever. Can’t remember the last time I tried a handstand- pretty incredible
