This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of American Heart Association for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.
American Heart Association contacted me to share and discuss our Why. Why we commit to making healthy living a priority for ourselves and our families by making changes toward living a healthier, longer life. They would like to encourage moms (like me and you) to join the movement by sharing our ‘why’.
By joining the movement, you simply share the things that are precious to you. The reasons why you choose to make healthier choices, workout, and make the choices you do. I love the idea behind this movement because it gives me a reason to think about what I do and my reason for living a healthier, longer life.
In one simple photo…
My children are my why. My family is my why. My husband is my why. My future daughter-in-laws are my why. My future grand-children are my why. My future memories with my family are my why.
As a mom, we have the power to help make a change not only for ourselves, but also for our families. The more moms that make healthy living a priority, the healthier our future will be. Moms united can make a real change. Women are a powerful bunch!
In this New Year, many of us are planning up our healthy living goals for the new year. I challenge you to consider your why behind your goals. Who or what motivates you to live a healthier, longer life? Who are the people and what are the precious moments worth living healthier for? Include your children and spouse, your family, your friends! Having the support of others is huge with your continued success. You can always visit Heart.org which is a great resource for living a healthier life.
Here are some simple ways to keep your heart and brain healthy… to help you with your healthy living goals… all while remembering your why.
-
Eat more fruits and vegetables.
-
Reduce sugar intake
-
Eat less sodium.
-
Drink water.
-
Get your rest – sleep
-
Get outside!
-
Smile. Laugh. Be happy.
As a mom, my Life is Why I do what I do. My children are my life. They are always watching what I do and say. In fact, what I do speaks louder than what I say.
Sometimes they don’t listen to what I say… but are completely aware of my actions. They watch what I eat (too many cookies perhaps), drink (hello Mommy drinks), and do (run, workout, sit, complain, read, pray, laugh, etc). This year, my “why” is motivating my actions… because I know in the future… my actions will be repeated by my children.
My why is this: I do what I do so that my children will follow in my footsteps.
This isn’t always the best thing, but it is the truth. It is my prayer that my children pick up on my healthy habits and forget my poor habits. Just being honest. I am a work in progress.
As I go into the new year, I am focusing on my why and how I can keep my heart, brain, and body healthy. By making healthier choices for my family and myself… my why is born.
