Happy Monday! I have found my fitness mojo and had a great training week last week. I am hoping to carry it forward to this week. I am still working on my nutrition and have added strength training to my routine. I have decided to run the Rock N Roll St. Louis half marathon in October… for fun… so I am adding a few longer runs into the mix.
Last week I did the 21 Day Fix fitness workout DVD program for my strength training. Don’t knock a 30 minute DVD by BeachBody… it can (and will) work you over. It did me. I was shaking by the end of each workout.
My runs last week were hard. Well, maybe the runs itself weren’t hard but it felt hard. It was hot, muggy, humid and each route I chose had great rolling hills to thrash my quads. You know… all in a good way. Talk about humbling runs and strengthening the mental game.
Last Week’s Fitness Routine:
Monday: 3 mile run
Tuesday: Total Body Fix + Upper Body Fix
Wednesday: PiYo
Thursday: 5.5 mile run
Friday: 3 mile walk + Lower Body Fix
Saturday: 7.5 mile run
I headed out on my long run late Saturday morning. I need to remember to start EARLIER (not after 10AM). It was a hot, muggy, and super sunny run. I am not kidding when I say there was very little shade the entire run. It was hot!
I fueled half way through my run with a GU Roctane gel packet I received in my #RockNBlog box as a Rock N Roll Ambassador. It was yummy!
I was super thankful to have packed my Ultimate Direction Jeni Vest filled with water. I was chugging water like crazy. It was so hot!
I wish photos could share with you how long and high some of the hills I encountered were. One of these days I am going to run with a go pro attached to me, so you can see what I see on a run! Ha!
It wasn’t my strongest run… but I did it. I know that I am getting stronger (mentally and physically). I learned a few lessons on my run too. Run earlier. Run on Friday (not on the weekend to interrupt family activities and game schedules).
This week I plan on doing a similar fitness routine. I am planning on shaking things up next week to confuse my muscles.
Monday: 21 Day Fix Total Body
Tuesday: 5 mile run + Upper Body
Wednesday: Lower Body
Thursday: 3 miles easy + PiYo
Friday: 5 miles
Saturday: Dirty 30 + Games. Games. Games!
Have a great start to your week!

I did BeachBody P90X3 after my baby was born to loose the 20 lbs that were lingering and it did really work. I’m curious about the 20 Day fix, especially the food part. Eating is what I struggle with the most. I’ve tried GU gels before and I did like them, they are tasty!

Thanks. I hope that will be true! Man… this humidity feels like I am breathing through a straw most runs! 🙂
