Oh how appropriately titled this post is… please… someone… motivate me this Monday! My motivation to get my runs in are less than ideal. I get them done… but not with gusto. More like a barely squeaking by just to call it good. Sigh. Just being honest. Less than a month till Boston and I have yet to have a really solid “I rocked that!” run.
My mom sent me a pin late last week, after complaining to her about running hills in my new town. I need to revamp my mental self-talk and be a hill seeker rather than a hill avoider. I love this image, this quote and this pin. It is so true and poignant to my life and how I view training now!

My friends over at Mizuno heard that I have been loving my Mizuno WaveRider 18’s for my training. I received a pair of new pretty pink shoes to finish my training in and to run Boston in. Yay for new shoes. Yay for shoes that do not hurt my feet, have caused zero loss of toe nails, and keep me going injury free!
My goal for this week is to run the prescribed miles and plan as well as to incorporate strength training. I also really really really! need to focus more on nutrition all.day.long and not just the day before the long run. I can tell that my diet of chips and diet coke are not really helping my waist line or my running speed. Like I always say, I am a work in progress.
This Monday, I need some motivation. I thrive on accountability and joining with others who are likeminded. What is on your agenda this week? Are you running and training for anything specific? Feel free to join Janice from FitnessCheerleader and I for #MotivateME Monday. Link up below!

What a great way to think about hills, thank you for sharing that 🙂
Mizuno’s are so pretty I really WISH they worked for me, but they’re far too firm a shoe (and I’m far too heavy on my feet) for them. But dang they make a good looking shoe!
Janice @ Fitness Cheerleader says
Big hugs! Perhaps there’s a running club near you that you could join? They might be able to help with motivation. Good luck with the rest of your training, only two more weeks then it’s TAPER time!

I just finished marathon training and I’m in a recovery week. I was just where you are a few weeks ago. Hang in there!! You got this!! 🙂
Artney @ My Pretty Brown Blog says
Just put one foot in front the other and trust your training! You can and will do this! Stay encouraged…and be proud of where you are. I totally understand how you feel, but once you get your 20 miles done you will feel so much better and then you’ll have a few weeks left! Now that’s exciting!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
I know motivation can be tough in that last couple weeks but you’re so close. Keep pushing, you got this! Plus you have amazing new shoes that need to be run in.
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
Love that quote. After my race last Sunday, I have a new appreciation for hills. As for motivation, I know it can be hard toward the end of training. Keep pushing these next few weeks. Soon, you’ll be tapering and then it will be race time! Maybe that I-rocked-that-run feeling is holding out for race day!

That’s awesome that your mom’s on pinterest and sends you pins! 😛
I am with you on being a work in progress–keep it up, and best of luck to you on your race goals! :]

You can do it. Just focus on Boston and how great will be to be part of it. That is a great motivator I should think!
Annmarie says
I needed some motivation yesterday too….I was still half dead from my race Sunday and only like 1/4 alive today! I can’t wait to catch up on sleep and rest so I can get back into my routine!
Ivanna says
Stay strong you can do it! One day and one workout at a time
AJ @ NutriFitMama says
I think we all need a little motivation sometimes! I have a half marathon coming up on Saturday, so I’m just getting in some short runs and strength training this week.
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
Just keep your eye on the prize! You can totally do this, we all have really crappy runs..some more than others. But it is Boston!!! So excited for you!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says

Love the pink Mizunos! I also love your training perspective. Or maybe it’s a mindset. Either way you inspire!
Toni @runninglovingliving says
OOOH I love those pink Mizuno sneakers, they are pretty awesome and will be great for Boston!!!
Elena says
Such cute new shoes!! And yes, I need to borrow that philosophy about hills. I have gotten better about not doing so much to avoid them, but I have a long way to go to fully embrace them.
Patty @ Reach Your Peak says
I actually prefer hillier races than flat ones…ever since HS cross coutnry, I just have such a hard time keeping a pace on flat courses..idk why!
I actually just bought mizunos (wave inspires) and am loving them! They’ve been helping a lot with my shin issues!
Sandra Laflamme says
I have just started trying out Mizunos and am loving them so far. Yours look great and will be perfect for those last training runs as Boston approaches! I also love that Be a Hill Seeker quotes. Definitely one of my favorites!
