Continuing on with my small steps for a healthy 2012, I am adding another healthy change this week. This past week I focused on taking a multivitamin each day. Each week I focus on one specific healthy change at a time. As a new week begins, I continue the previous healthy habit(s) while adding the new healthy change.
So far in 2012, I have made the following healthy changes: committing to eat a healthy breakfast upon waking (every day), drinking more water (at least half my body weight in ounces), and taking a multivitamin.
This past week I focused on taking my multivitamin each morning. One would think that because I have either been pregnant and or nursing for almost 7 years it would be second nature to take a prenatal vitamin. However, since adding the third child I have put myself last… thus resulting in me failing to take care of myself (and take my vitamins).

Because I am focusing on small changes of healthy living this year, my main focus to start off is nutrition. Because, sometimes I eat well, and sometimes I don’t. Ideally, getting all our nutrients we need should come from our food sources. However, eating a whole and balanced diet doesn’t always happen (at least for me that is the case).
Here I am starting the 4th week of the new year and my mornings are already drastically different. Upon waking, I drink a glass of water and begin making my breakfast. I eat a healthy breakfast and take my multivitamin. When I am eating breakfast I am either multitasking (making my children’s breakfast, planning the day, helping kids get dressed… or on the sheer off chance that I get a slow start I am able to sit and enjoy my morning devotion with out interruption).
Just like the effects of eating breakfast, taking a multivitamin has helped with my mood swings, energy level and overall health. Who knew that when you take care of YOU the fog begins to lift?!?
This coming week I am adding a new healthy challenge:
Consume More Fiber
One of the Bible studies I am doing is the Made To Crave Devotional by Lysa TerKeurst. In the action plan she talks about the importance of fiber, the role of fiber in the body, and how much is recommended for our body. My daily goal is to consume 25 grams of fiber each day.

Are you staying the course with your healthy changes for 2012?
How do you get enough fiber in your diet?
Janice- The Fitness Cheerleader says
Oh fiber… I bet I’m a bit deficient with that, though perhaps the veggies I consume are helping? Toot toot…
Lisa @ljenator says
I’ve been getting fiber, I just need to work on the water! I just need a lot right now! battling plugged ducts and thrush isn’t fun!!
Good job Rachel!
