I am a big fan of Max Lucado. My children and I love his series with Hermie the caterpillar and friends. Granted, the book I reviewed is not for children but for adults; I wanted to preface that we are big Lucado fans.
In his book, Max answers and gives insight to important questions on life.
Book Description
We have questions. Child-like inquiries. And deep, heavy ones.
In more than twenty-five years of writing and ministry, Max Lucado has been the receiving line for thousands of such questions. The questions come in letters, e-mails, even on Dunkin Donuts napkins. In Max on Life he offers thoughtful answers to more than 150 of the most pressing questions on topics ranging from hope to hurt, from home to the hereafter.
Max writes about the role of prayer, the purpose of pain, and the reason for our ultimate hope. He responds to the day-to-day questions—parenting quandaries, financial challenges, difficult relationships—as well as to the profound: Is God really listening?
I love how this book is laid out and written.
The topics are divided into sections (by subject): Hope, Hurt, Help, Him/Her, Home, Haves/Have-Nots, and Hereafter.
In each section he tackles personal heart felt questions and gives a Biblical response with references.
When reading his book, I was amazed at how many questions that were asked (that he answered) I could have asked myself!
He shares his take on life on multiple subjects and hits it spot on. I learned and am still chewing on the following insights he shared on:
-
How should I discipline my kids?
-
Why do I worry so much?
-
How can I be the mom God wants me to be?
-
How do I get out of a bad mood?
-
What should I tell my kids about sex?
Don’t fear… this book is not written just FOR mothers. I only shared a few questions that spoke to me (a mother) and wanted to let you know he tackles a wide range of topics.
I love how simple Lucado answers each question. It is almost as if you are a fly on the wall in a coffee shop, listening to someone sincerely sharing their heart and getting a sincere answer. The motherhood questions (I shared above) and the answers were PERFECT for me and my phase in life.
I am excited to have this book on my bookshelf, and plan to utilize many of the question/answers for future (and current) issues I face.
If you are looking for a book to help you on your journey through life, I think this book is a great choice! In my opinion, Lucado is a great author who has Biblical insight and knowledge that he shares in this book.
