I am SUPER excited to share with you my latest read, Run Like a Mother: How to Get Moving–and Not Lose Your Family, Job, or Sanity !!
How does a mother run? Just the way she lives: with commitment, dedication, a sense of humor, a flexible schedule, and sometimes (especially at 5:30 AM) with a bit of hesitation. Dimity and Sarah provide tips and inspiration for aspiring and experienced running mothers in this book.
I love how Run Like a Mother, reminds women to take time for themselves and reminds them that it is OKAY to NEED that run.
I could spend HOURS and line upon line quoting this book to you on what I liked best. The truth is, I enjoyed EVERY moment of this book.
I laughed out loud when they talked about bowel movements while on a training run (I have been there – done that).
I cried tears of joy when I realized that I am not alone in my crazy thoughts for needing the alone time to run… almost twitching when the span between my runs are too far apart.
I took comfort in the fact that OTHER mom’s out there were juggling their lives and including their hobby, running, as well as family… and knew that the world would not fall apart when Daddy was in charge for a few hours.
I was motivated to read about their training adventures, even the scary and daunting marathon and speed training tales.
I have a newly awaken desire to be one of those mothers who wakes at 5:30 AM to head out to run before her house wakes. But first, I need to sleep a solid 8 hours before that happens – the T’Man needs to wean first! 🙂
Finding the motivation to get out there when you were up all night with a sick kid. Cajoling a husband who is less than supportive of your mileage. Running during pregnancy, when you feel like a whale, and running after it, when you still feel like a whale. Coping when race day and your period coincide.
This book is for all running mothers!! If you are an overextended, overworked, over scheduled, even overtired Momma that needs a little kick in the pants (inspiration) to lace up your running shoes and hit the pavement… this book is a must have for you!! Even if you were up all night with a sick little one (darn Snot Monster) you will feel like a million bucks when you return home after pounding away the crankies on that pavement.
I highly recommend this laugh out loud book! I know you will love Run Like a Mother too!

I loved this book too!! Even though I haven’t been running for even a year, I found myself nodding my head in agreement to so many things. And yes, I loved the chapter on peeing, pooping, passing gas & periods. Awesome book!
