Happy Monday!  Today the running community banded together to watch and cheer on the Boston Marathon.  As a community, family, of runners this race and event is huge.  It bonds us together with a common interest and heart… the love of running.  We are resilient and never give up.  We are strong.  Running Strong.  Boston Strong. “This is beyond running, we are resilient and never give up.” Meb Keflezighi Meb Keflezighi won and completed the Boston Marathon in 2:08:37.  That is my half marathon Continue Reading

Weighing in on Weight Loss

weight loss reflections and reasons why i can

It has been a while since I shared my weight loss journey.  In fact, I have been shying away from sharing the number and even discussing weight loss… while focusing mainly on the importance of being healthy.  However, it is time in my journey to weigh in and share with you my weight loss goals, journey, and status… or lack there of. My weight has not changed (or has slowly increased in number about 5-10 pounds) the past year.  It is not for lack of trying.  I have been running like crazy and have tried to focus on nutrition and portion Continue Reading

21 Day Fix Meal Plan and Fitness Plan: Week 2

your intentions a week ahead. people who plan achieve._thumb.jpg

Last week was my first week of the 21 Day Fix fitness and meal plan.  I must say that I am pleasantly pleased with the program and nutrition program.  I was never hungry and felt satiated the whole day.  My energy level was constant.  The only kicker with this is you need to make sure you have a plan for the day/week… otherwise it is really easy to fail. The fitness program is customizable to all fitness levels and abilities.  I found myself sore the next day which surprised me… in a good way!  I plan to add in running to the fitness Continue Reading

We all know that there is no simple fix or magic pill for achieving your weight loss goal.  However, with the proper tools and motivation I believe all things are possible!  Beachbody has come out with another amazing tool to help you on your health and fitness journey.  This program is called the 21 Day Fix.  It focuses on the simple fact to help make nutrition and exercise simple for you. I love all things fitness.  But on that same note I have a very close relationship with food.  My struggle is nutrition.  Even when I choose to eat Continue Reading

My Battle With Nutrition

I am going to be honest.  I love food a little too much and I battle with my nutrition.  I often feel like I am making healthy, clean, whole food choices… but in reality convenience foods win.  Whether my excuse is time, money or even the whole I earned this treat mindset… I battle with proper nutrition. I know as an athlete what I am supposed to eat and how to eat… but I find convince foods way to easy.  When I run, I view my food as fuel.  I even call my food fuel!  I would not fuel my long run or race with Continue Reading

WIAW #OnAQuest For More Protein

questProteinbars.jpg

The week after the adventure Ragnar provided, I have been focusing on hydration, eating my veggies and increasing my protein.  I am finding that in doing so it helps fuel and replenish my body where it was depleted from last weekend’s race. I have realized that when my iron is low (low protein), so is my energy… and I get uber cranky and snarky.  NO one wants to be around that.  I am on a quest for more protein in my diet… while staying hydrated and doing my best to maintain a well balanced nutrition plan. As a FitFluential Ambassador, I Continue Reading
