Buying new glasses or contacts can be a challenge. From finding the perfect fit, to the often lengthy process of trying on and purchasing the right pair, LensCrafters makes it easy!
Last week, I braved the snow and ice and took a trip to my local LensCrafters. I recently visited my own eye doctor and had my eye health checked and picked out new frames, so I was curious to see how this office operates.
My exam went smooth… just as to be expected. The only thing I did not like was the pressure of your eye test. You know the one. The test where you look straight ahead and it blows a puff of air in your eye. Yup. That one is never fun.
Although I primarily wear glasses, I talked to the doctor about their new daily contact lenses. I shared with him my hesitation about contact lenses since my corneal ulcer, I experienced 5 years ago. He assured me that the daily contact lenses were a great fit for me and my active lifestyle: perfect for running, outdoor activities, errands while it is raining, and even every day use.
The doctor gave me a 5-day trial pack of the Dailies Contact Lenses. These are designed for easy handling. You get a fresh pair each day which means no more cleaning or maintenance. Just healthy eyes and clear vision.
I liked the ease of returning to contacts (for those few days). I just felt like my face was naked without my glasses. So back to glasses I returned.
I would like to compare the process of picking out glasses to shopping with a friend. There were helpers from LensCrafters there with iPads, cameras, and a friendly smile guiding me as I browsed their expansive frame selection.
I had two lovely ladies help me during my visit. They picked out frames they thought flattered my face and my lifestyle. They even had this cool feature on their iPad that they took pictures of me with the glasses and emailed me the photos (or to friends/family if I chose) to help me decide. It was a neat feature that provided me (or someone like you) the opportunity to go home and view the photos to think about your purchase before buying. I liked that feature.
My top three frames were laid out for me to pick. All the frames were different colors than what I had at home. Two of the frames were the same style/shape as my newest frames (that I like). The teal frame (in the middle) was the same style as the majority of my frames… but I liked the contrasting color best.
I also liked the price tag of the middle frame. I was also able to take advantage of their 40% off lenses sale that was going on. It was a great way to score new glasses on sale! Yay!
Don’t mind the silly picture below. They were making sure the frames fit my face correctly. Thank goodness they did.
My eye exam at LensCrafters went well. My eyes are healthy and my face is sporting new frames. The whole process of my eye exam and picking out new frames was smooth and didn’t hurt a bit (well, maybe the pressure in the eye test… but that didn’t hurt any more than it was uncomfortable).

I am almost legally blind without corrective lenses. I wear contacts for distance. I won’t wear glasses outside of the house. If I’m doing something up close I have to wear a pair of readers over the contacts.

My husband and daughter both wear glasses and we need to get them an apt for a checkup. I will check out the one in my area. Sounds great!

I haven’t been in almost a year, so I’m due for my checkup. I don’t wear any sort of corrective lenses, though.

I feel naked without my glasses too! I used to wear contacts, but after wearing glasses for so many years, it feels strange to not have them!

I need to go – thanks for the reminder! It’s probably been about 9 months since my last eye exam (because I wanted to order Rx sunglasses for running) and my new Rx is different than my everyday (as in the minute I wake up until the minute I get into bed) glasses, so I REALLY need to get new ones! I wore contacts for a little while in high school, but struggled with them because my eyes get dry and I have allergies (first thing affected, my eyes), so I never really went back. I think I’d feel naked without my glasses, too, but often think about those few times per year where I wish I had contacts!

I definitely could use an eye exam. I’ll have to check them out – sounds like they’re great and have awesome glasses.

I often go to Lenscrafters for my eye exams. I recently bought a cute pair of glasses there.
