Happy Monday! I give all you working mom’s out there mega kudos! Balancing and juggling work, family, the to-do list, and fitting in fitness is challenging. I am one week into full time working as I am filling in for a 1st grade teacher who is on maternity leave. I love it… yet am really struggling with balancing my to-do list and fitness.
Last Week
Monday: Work at 5AM and did a 20 minute full body cardio strength circuit
Tuesday: No School so I ran while chasing the boys on bikes – 4 miles
It has been a few months since I have run with the boys. I loaded the boys bikes up and we headed to a new to them trail. We all had a great time. They would stick together and ride ahead of me, stopping every half mile at a bench and play while waiting for me to catch up.
They would not go down to the water (lake) until I reached them. Basically it was 4 miles of run fast and then stop or walk… but it was nice to get outside, get fresh air, and be active… no matter how fast or slow I was going.
I could go on and list the rest of my week… but it would say no workout. I did get my steps in and my daily activity goal from being on my feet all day teaching. BUT I did not sweat or do any real calorie burning exercises.
Our weekend was spent watching soccer all day Saturday: one indoor game and one outdoor game. I opted to NOT go to the indoor soccer game on Sunday afternoon because I desperately wanted a family day… and selfishly needed to go for a run! I am hoping to sneak out to go run after this post.
This Week
This week I have the same goal of fitting in fitness. In order to do this, I will need to wake at 5AM as it is the only time I am free to workout.
Our evenings this week are filled with pizza soccer party, dentist appointments, blogging social event, winter musical at the school, and more! Plus it does not help that it gets dark at 5:30… and I get home at 5 with the boys. Did I mention we are still adjusting to this new crazy routine!?
Nutrition
Regarding food and nutrition this week, my breakfast and lunch will be pretty basic and repetitive. I don’t have much time to sit and eat (maybe 20 minutes) those meals, so it will more than likely be a shake and an apple. Yup. Basic. Simple. Small. All while filling any nutritional gaps or needs while on the go.
Dinner this week:
Monday: Pizza Party with the soccer team
Tuesday: Taco Night
Wednesday: Pieorgis, Sausage & Mixed Veggies
Thursday: Chinese
Weekend: Boys weekend (I will be spending the weekend with my mom and sisters in Branson for a much needed girls weekend!)
Thanks for following and joining me on this amazing ride as I run through life one day at a time… even if I am not doing a whole lot of running lately. Ha!
