Happy Monday! I usually share my training plan on Monday’s… but this week I am going to share with you a few scenes from our weekend. Yes I plan on running this week and lifting weights. Follow me on instagram for more details of what I did (or didn’t do) each day.
When it comes to fitting in fitness during my day, I am more relaxed lately. I have been enjoying the moment more… and not worrying about what is coming next. This weekend’s family activities is a great example of how I am tackling my fitness.
I have been enjoying watching my boys learn to fall in love with fishing. Watching their Daddy (my husband) teach them how to put on the lure, cast, and be patient as it is called fishing not catching.
The two younger boys lost interest after 10 minutes. They were more interested in going through Daddy’s tackle box and feeling all the squishy worms.
My oldest and husband were happy clams casting and fishing.
When we came home, these two (the youngest boys) decided to spend the afternoon fighting crime as Batman ONE and Batman TWO. I feel sorry for the imaginary bad guys because they were getting kicked, punched, and jumped on (the trampoline) hard! ha!
Sunday evening, we dropped our boys off at Awanas. When the boys had fun at their activity, my husband and I enjoyed a nice 2 mile hike. We saw LOTS of big scary spider webs and I even giggled as I watched him leap SO HIGH after seeing a leave twitch under his foot. Seriously hilarious!
I have enjoyed the outdoor activities and memories we made this weekend as a family. Now that Monday is here… it is time to get back on track with my fitness and nutrition goals. Running. Lifting. Eating healthy. Drinking water. Resting. You know… all the stuff we know we are supposed to do!

Those quiet(ish) family weekends are the best.
For me it’s spent with my cat, but there’s something so peaceful about not worrying about fitting in a long run all the time 🙂

My boys used to do Awana–they loved it but I thought it was so crazy! The kids were always running around and all hopped up. I guess they learned their verses, tho…
Rachel says
Ha. Yes. Crazy and hyped up. Yes! We have done Awanas in the past (back in California) and am hopeful they will continue to learn and grow with this program here… even if it is a wild circus. 😉

Batman 1 and Batman 2 – too cute!
I love fishing and this post just reminded me that I haven’t gotten out there in a while to do so. My fav is deep sea fishing because you can usually eat what you catch!
carmy says
On the bright side, the boys liking the squishy worms means you will never have to hook/touch a worm again, they can do it ?
Rachel says
Haha! YES!!
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
I feel the same way about fishing as the younger boys, I get too bored.
Rachel says
Haha! Me too! Notice the pink chair (that was mine) where I sat and read my book… while watching my husband walk from boy to boy fixing their lines. 🙂
Patty @ Reach Your Peak says

Looks like a wonderful family weekend! I love doing things that are active, but don’t feel like a workout because they’re so fun (like hiking!).
