I am so excited to share with you all about the new fitness program that I have been challenged by the past two weeks. I am following the Daily Burn fitness program by Bob Harper called Black Fire. It is hard. It is intense. It is fun!? Weird, yet so true! It challenges me while motivating and pushing me to do better. I am a huge fan!
More than just a workout
DailyBurn’s expert trainers have strategically organized our high-quality workout videos into complete fitness programs that combine customized workouts, specific nutrition and high-quality supplements to help get you the results you’ve always wanted.
Fitness At Your Fingertips
Your daily workout, meal plan, recipes and supplement recommendations are now conveniently accessible all from one view. You’ll also be able to access DailyBurn workouts whenever you want on different devices including iOS, Android, Roku, PS3, Apple TV, Chromecast and Xbox.
Track Your Progress
As you move closer to reaching your goals, visualize your progress through beautiful graphs and encouraging messages. You’ll be able to see your DailyBurn challenge results and see where you stack up over time.
You also have the option of tracking your heart rate during the workouts using a Bluetooth capable heart rate monitor. I used my Polar H7 heart rate strap and the Bluetooth on my iPad during many of my workouts.
It’s Black Fire Baby!
Black Fire is a 60-day program that will help you transform your body. Designed by celebrity trainer Bob Harper, Black Fire focuses on full-body exercises that combine different fitness principles including strength, endurance, power, balance, core, and recovery. During the 20-minute high-intensity training portion of each workout, you’ll move through a series of high-impact exercises designed to awaken new muscle groups and drive results.
There is a warm-up, pre-workout discussion and a cool down with each video. Overall you will be moving, sweating, and/or stretching for about 30 minutes.
Black Fire is structured to push your body to its peak. {YES!} Workouts utilize high-intensity movements, incorporating weightlifting, plyometrics, and even gymnastics exercises. You’ll train aggressively five days a week, and supplement those with active recovery days. {The recovery workouts include foam rolling!} Black Fire is challenging — yet approachable — for people of all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced athletes.
The program also incorporates a scoring system to help monitor your progress, keep you motivated, and engage in some friendly competition with fellow athletes. While it’s not a requirement, scoring is an exciting addition to the program and encourages you to achieve results faster.
You can log and share your scores from each workout on the DailyBurn website using your facebook account or with a pen/paper. After each workout a prompt will pop up (before cooling down and stretching) asking you to tally and record your score for that workout. You record your score so that the next time you do that workout you strive to better your score!
Black Fire burns deeper and hotter than anything else. But it only comes if you give it your all.
My Thoughts on Black Fire
I have really enjoyed being pushed beyond my comfort zone with this fitness program. I like that there is no choreography or following along to the reps and movements of the instructor. You are one of Bob’s athletes when you workout. You push yourself as hard (or as little) as you want to each time you press play.
I really like the workouts. They are intense and uber hard… but before you know it they are over and you are stretching.
The workouts are very similar to crossfit WOD’s. You can tell that Bob loves crossfit and his passion shows through this program. The workouts are intense all while having fun. I am serious. It is HARD but you are smiling at the same time (amidst sweat and grunting at times).
You compete against yourself. You do your best. You try to beat your previous time. I made the mistake of trying to compete with the athletes (on the video) and it was not possible. Bob even tells you (me) that we are to do our best… I really feel like he is with me while I work out!
I will not lie or sugar coat it… these workouts are HARD. HARD. HARD! If you are looking for a workout that will challenge you physically and mentally you should check this out! DailyBurn’s Black Fire will give you the results you desire if you are willing to work hard for it!

I keep seeing this pop up on other bloggers’ pages and I am really interested! Now that I am marathon training I need something I can do right at home as opposed to have to go to the gym after a run.
