Hi friends. Happy Monday! I am doing my best to find my running and fitness mojo. I am focusing on my nutrition and adding strength to my fitness routine.
I have decided to challenge myself with Bob Harper’s Daily Burn Black Fire workout. I am three days in and… OH MY GOODNESS it is so hard. So good. So challenging! Just what I need. I am going to do a few more workouts and will share all about this complete fitness program and my experience next week.
I have taken my before measurements and weight. I even broke out my Skulpt Aim device to measure my body fat and muscle quality. I have a feeling I will be working harder than I have in a while… similar to when I did PFT back in California. Good stuff!
Here is what I did last week:
Monday: 1 mile walk
Tuesday: lots of walking at the zoo
Wednesday: DB BF: Strategic Endurance + 3.75 mile trail run
Thursday: DB BF: Body Weight Tabata
Friday: DB BF: ABC1 + 3 mile easy run w/T in jogger
Saturday: 1 mile walk
Sunday: 3 mile trail run
This is the last week of school for my big boys. Oh the many new adventures of every day school and adjusting to the fun traditions this holds. It will be a busy week filled with lots of fun activities and doing #WYCWYC (what you can when you can) when it comes to fitting in workouts.
My fitness plan this week:
Monday: DB BF: Power 10 + walk
Tuesday: Yoga + run w/T in jogger
Wednesday: DB BF: Strategic Endurance + easy run/walk
Thursday: DB BF: Body Weight Tabata
Friday: DB BF: Release Lower Body
Saturday: DB BF: ABC1
Sunday: family day – rest
My nutrition goals this week is to menu plan ALL my meals. This will help me stay on track. No more hangry mama! I am going to focus on eating clean, whole foods. I will be attempting to follow my Daily Burn nutrition plan that they suggest on the website.

That program looks good. I’ve not been meal planning/prepping like I should. It definitely helps! I have used apps and other trackers occasionally. Usually for a month or two at a time and then I take a break from them.
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs says
If Bob’s in charge, I imagine the workout will be crazy intense, but awesome!
I can’t wait to hear more about it!
Rachel says
Yes. It totally is. But as you are gasping for air and dripping salty sweat… he throws out these inspirational/motivational words that give you the push to finish strong. 🙂
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
How cool! I love Bob Harper :). I’ve done both Insanity and p90x, which you can get streaming now!
Rachel says
Yes. Similar online streaming as the new BB programs. 🙂
Marcia says
All the best with the new plan, Rachel! Meal planning (or lack thereof) is totally my downfall.
Rachel says
Yes! Mega ditto on the meal planning (or lack thereof) struggle here too! 🙂
Ivanna says
I always see commercials for Daily Burn. Looks like a great workout. I hope it will help you reach your goals also 🙂
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
I’ve heard great things about Daily Burn. I hope that you find it helpful in reaching your goals!
Jenn says
Fantastic week!
I tend to plan everything out on paper and don’t use an app or anything online.
Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home says
The only online training I ever have used was Hal Higdon’s marathon training plan for my first marathon. It was a good guideline, but I have really benefitted from using a live coach. I need that.
Rachel says
Awesome. I have used that in the past too. I agree, I like you… thrive on having a real life person keeping me accountable with my training. 🙂
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
I’ve never used an online fitness program to follow ever before but I am curious to hear about your results from this workout. Keep us posted. The kids are out of school already? GEESH what about them snow days they have to make up?
Rachel says
The big boys last day of school is tomorrow! Then we have a week off (sports camp and play) before we do a summer school/camp. Always something! 🙂
Sandra Laflamme says
I haven’t done any online fitness or training plans but would definitely check them out. It will probably be a nice change of pace from all of the running that you had to do for Boston Marathon training!
Rachel says
Yes. I agree. I do love and miss running (having a set running training plan). BUT the strength/HIIT program from Daily Burn is TOTALLY challenging me beyond my comfort zone… in a good way. 🙂
Lindsay @ Fit & Awesome says
Nice work! I’ve found the best tracker to keep me accountable for my goals is my Fitbit. Some people swear by apps like MyFitnessPal but for me the Fitbit has been great for tracking my activity when doing a weight loss program.
