I love running… which is why this blog is called running Rachel. The past week we have had cold temperatures, snow, and wind. This has made getting outside to run a challenge. Running while pushing the T man (and making sure he stays warm) was the main struggle. I needed to run. Mama was getting cranky. This crazy healthy habit I love doing… running… is something that I enjoy doing. Often.
Imagine my surprise when I saw the weather forecast for this afternoon (and next few days)… sunshine and warmER temperatures. I was jumping with excitement! I get to go running. Outside. Yay!
I knew the trails would be mainly snow covered, because today was the first day the temperatures were above freezing. I decided to try to go back to the lake trail that is paved… hoping that the sun has melted the snow on the trail.
I was super excited to see the trail open sign. Granted, the trails were open… but there were section of the trail that was still snow covered (slush). I was going to have to be careful. I might be a crazy runner… but I am also a cautious runner and don’t want to get injured for not being careful.
I was on a time crunch this afternoon. I was only able to carefully run 2 miles before heading back home. Those miles were wonderful. The sun was shining. The air was crisp. The temperature was in the mid 40’s. It was perfect running weather.
I think I might have been overdressed for my run. I didn’t need my jacket … but was comfortably warm. I am hopeful that by this weekend (when I will run solo again) the trails will be clear for a nice long run. Mama needs to run.
Nothing like 2 miles of rolling hills, while pushing not-so-tiny T in the jogger, and making sure my footing is secure when hitting a slippery slushy patch of snow. It definitely kept me on my toes and made the run interesting too. But just interesting enough to reach my toes to the sky for #handstandFriday by the Lake!

Love POM, I have been drinking it for years or adding it to smoothies. Super great 🙂
Love the wonderful trails you are running on.

During my run yesterday it was at least 50! It was so nice but I also don’t mind running in the cold much! Either way, I’m happy to just get out there!

I’m running my first ultra in two weeks (gulp) and I didn’t even consider how tough training through the winter would be! We’ve had a mild winter but there have still been days when the single-digit temps made running outside the LAST thing I wanted to do 🙂
Nicole @ Fitful Focus says
Those trails look beautiful! And POM is Delish! 🙂

I wish I knew how to post a picture in your comments section…I want to show you my yard, lol. We have about 2+ feet of fresh powder JUST from the last two weeks alone (and it’s coming down really heavy right now!) I wish I could hit my trails, but the snow is WAY too deep still. Come on spring!

I saw that jumping pic of you and love it so much! Great to get out in the sunshine!

As I type this and look out my office window, it’s snowing. Again. Another 12-18 inches on top of more than 3 feet that’s fallen in the last week. Clear roads are something to be celebrated. Enjoy it for me!
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I’ve never actually had Pom juice but I love using the seeds. Love your handstands!

Oh man. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up again! I do get out there when the conditions are less than ideal but this winter has been killing me!
Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says
We also had warmer temperatures here this weekend. It was a welcome relief after all the cold, windy days we’ve had lately.

I love running in the snow, but it’s so hard when you are in the weird slightly melted but not completely clear stage. Glad you got out for a run. Some days that’s the secret to sanity.

The weather was gorgeous this weekend wasn’t it? You got that handstand down and I love pomegranate juice. Yummy! #crazyhealthy

Oh how I want to learn to do a hand stand!!! And I guess I need to stop complaining about that downpour outside. At least it isn’t cold snow. I don’t know how y’all do it!
AJ @ NutriFitMama says
I haven’t ever had one of those POM drinks. I don’t like getting outside when the weather isn’t perfect…lol..but I NEVER regret it when I do! 😉
