Happy Monday! This week brings us a new day, a new week and a fresh start to a new month (well, it is the third, but it is close enough). It is that time of the week to map out the fitness plan to stay on track with fitness goals.
For me, last week was an off week. I am not sure exactly what happened. I started off the week fine… but by midweek the hormones took over and I suffered from a serious case of the I don’t wannas! Does that ever happen to you? I am not sure if it was a combination of all the fun activities going on or just the lovely privilege of being a woman… but it was an off week.
I think my excitement was knowing that the four TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) were going to be exploring our neighborhood that week… and my mind (as well as my children’s) had trouble focusing elsewhere.
My on the road to Boston training plan is basically focusing on working and building up my endurance and mileage base. I am at a comfortable 8 miles for my long run… but would like to get it to a 10-14 miles before busting out the official marathon training plan. Currently, also I am dealing with a tight IT band… time to break out the foam roller and do more stretches.
Last Week’s Fitness Plan (What I did):
Monday – 3 mile run while pushing T in jogger
Tuesday – 4.25 mile run while chasing boys on bikes
Wednesday – 5 mile walk. Slow and Easy.
Thursday – 25 minute pilates fix (21 Day Fix)
Friday – rest
Saturday – 7.75 miles comfortable run
Sunday – 2 mile family hike around the farms of Apple Hill (Placerville, CA)
Total weekly mileage = 22 miles. Last week wasn’t my best week. But I am glad that I did something most days.
This week, I decided to join some of my girlfriends from church for a 6 week boot camp of sorts. It is called Fab5. I am excited because this will give me real life accountability (for both my physical fitness but also my spiritual fitness). We will meet Monday mornings for an intense workout and weekly challenges. I am excited and will keep you updated on my experience!
This Week’s Fitness Plan (What I plan to do):
Monday: Fab5 Boot camp with friends
Tuesday: 3 mile jog (easy) + pilates
Wednesday: 4.5 mile build-up run (9:30-11 min/mile)
Thursday: 4.5 mile run + strength
Friday: active rest (yoga/pilates/core work)
Saturday: 6.5 mile comfortable run (11:04-11:59 min/mile)
Sunday: family day
The cooler temperatures of fall have arrived. Yay! This should make for outdoor running easier… but on the flip side convincing three little boys who need to join me on said run… a bit more of a challenge. Training and the miles will all work itself out. Having a plan and being flexible with the plan is key. Speaking of plan… have you entered to win a $50 gift certificate to ErinCondren, yet? Besides fitness, I am really going to have to work on my self-control with regard to all the candy and junk that is currently in my house. All the chocolate. All the yummy candy. Must resist!

I basically just don’t buy candy. My kids had two small pieces of candy on Halloween. My favorite season to run is actually summer with fall being a close second!

I remember seeing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at Disney World a few years ago and getting autographs… I had to coach Donatello how to spell his name!! So fun.
Good luck with your fitness plans this week… GET IT! and have fun.

Ugh despite all my grand plans I did not win the battle with the candy
The Frugal Exerciser says
I need to make a fitness schedule but I have always been what ever hits me that day. I’m getting rid of my candy.
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
I set up my co-workers and bring the candy in for THEM to eat it. Hahahahahaha! Ok was very kid the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? LOL I swear 200 of them came to my home on Friday. Nice to have a church workout group.
Liz Mays says
I used to jog until I got an achilles injury. Then I stopped and just did aerobics and strength training. I do that all by myself at home.
alana jones says
Wow! You are doing amazingly well. I am inspired by you. I am also a fitness freak but never ran more than 4 miles.

Toni @runninglovingliving says
Looks like a great week! I have no problem resisting candy, salty items are my weakness. I actually haven’t had one piece of candy from my daughters Halloween candy!
Stephanie (@FitMomTraining) says
I think you did pretty good last week. You certainly did more than I did and your ninjas are FAR more active than mine 🙂
Anne - Mommy Has to Work says
I walk in the morings but would love to get back to the gym.
Janice says
Great week & great plan! In the past I’ve had trouble resisting the Halloween treats but over the past 6 months I’ve worked really hard at eliminating refined sugars & sweeteners from my “diet” and my cravings for that kind of stuff has really improved. I think I’ve eaten about 6 mini chocolate bars over the past week. Last year I think I ate at least 6 per day. MFP has really helped me to become aware of how my diet was affecting my weight and running performance.
Abby @ BackAtSquareZero says
Love that you had all 4 turtles.
Theresa @ Faith and Family Reviews says
I don’t resist candy usually, unless I have already had a sweet treat that day then I can usually say no.

Crystal says
I did really well avoiding all of the junk before and the day of Halloween. But the wheels have come off since then. That candy needs to go!
Jenn says
I hope you were able to resist all the chocolate. It’s ok to have off weeks now and then. I’m loving the turtle masks!
Marcie W. says
I did not resist candy temptation nearly the way I wanted to and my schedule this week seems more busy than usual. I plan for the gym to be sick of me by next weekend!
