As a busy mom with three young children, finding time to slip away is as hard as using the restroom by myself. Seriously. You get it. We all have been there. Finding time to pamper myself and just enjoy some much needed quiet is a luxury that most moms, including myself, don’t often experience.
Massage Envy Spa contacted me prior to our family vacation, requesting me to try out their facility and try a complimentary sports massage. I was totally jazzed since it has been a few years since I have had a real massage.
I swapped child care with a friend (I watched her children earlier and she watched mine when I was at my massage). Kid free. Relaxing. Quiet. Massage. Bliss.
When I arrived, I was instructed to fill out some papers detailing my personal health history, any aches and pains, and preferred spots to work on. They also asked if I preferred light, medium or hard massage. The staff was super friendly and kind.
While I filled out my forms, I enjoyed a cool glass of lemon cucumber water and chilled in a super calm and relaxing (kid free!) room. I would love to transform a room in my home to be as tranquil, quiet, and peaceful… kid free… as that moment was.
I met my massage therapist, Vanessa. She directed me to our room and the magic began. I will spare you any photos because I was in relaxation land… but the room was set up like most therapeutic spas.
My massage session was a 1-hour massage: 5 minutes to undress, 50 minute massage, 5 minutes to dress. Vanessa, my massage therapist, focused mainly up my upper back (traps) and calves as they were needing the most work. It hurt so good.
The only thing I wish she would have done was work more on my feet. I love having my feet rubbed. It is my favorite. Because time was a factor, I pretty much just got lotion rubbed on my feet and she moved on. Perhaps she just didn’t like feet!? I don’t blame her… this runner has some runners feet! Joking.
I think I will try their Sugar Foot Scrub Therapy next time I go in… then it will be relaxing time where they solely focus on my tired feet.
I enjoyed the hour to myself at Massage Envy Spa of Sacramento. If you are needing some pampering, along time, or just some rest and relaxation, you should totally check out to find a Massage Envy Spa near you!

I have a Massage Envy membership and it’s been amazing for my running! I don’t go near as often as I should – I probably only go 4 times a year, so I have so many massages saved up!
