This recovery business is over. The past few months I have been in full focus mode of training for my first full marathon. Now that the marathon is over, I am finding a new groove. Finding, embracing and challenging myself with a new fitness challenge.
Not having a plan or a goal put a damper on my motivation. The past two weeks I have been in recovery mode. But truth be told, I was in lazy and unproductive mode. I couldn’t find my groove or rhythm with what I wanted to do.
I need fitness challenges and races on the calendar to stay motivated. To find a new groove I need something to be groovy about… and I think I have found my new groove.
I found a new fitness challenge in that I will be training for and running my second full marathon in March. I will be running the LA Marathon on March 9. I have less than 12 weeks to train and get mentally ready to tackle another 26.2 miles.
I will be following another amazing training plan and incorporating strength, speed and of course running. I am excited to challenge myself to set a new personal record, challenging myself to beat my 4:37:42 finishing time from CIM.
Through my marathon training for CIM, I learned that my brain is a powerful tool for training. My fitness is 100% mental. My body will go where I tell it to go … push it. I am finding a new groove, challenging myself to keep running and setting new goals. I will push it. Running new races and hopefully setting new personal records.
Now to just stay away from the Christmas candy and treats that seem to be baking in my kitchen, arriving at my door, and hopping in my shopping cart.

Awesome! I’m hoping Fall 2014 will be my second marathon. Since my first in May, I’ve been tackling an injury. I’m trying to be smart and get fully recovered and stronger before jumping into training again. Good luck on your next marathon journey!

Thank you! Yes, those nagging running over use injuries can linger, eh? My foot/ankle is being wonky since my full 2 weeks ago. BUT I am hoping that it just needs to be loosened out by more running! HA! 🙂

GL with the marathon! I am running dopey at disney and hope to be DONE with fulls. I don’t enjoy them near as much as the half distance.

That is such a fun race (and on my wish list to run someday!). I really enjoyed running CIM (my first full). I do like the half distance (it has always been my favorite distance). But I am finding that the half is now challenging because I keep wanting to run faster. LOL Right now the full is my slow and steady pace race… and I like that comfortable pace right now. 😉

Fun! I am too scared to do another full right now – maybe 2014 😉

haha! I really enjoyed the race and distance. Slow and steady (I am not a super speedy BQer) 😉 I just pray I stay injury free and healthy! 🙂

Yes, those darn sugary treats have a way of finding us, don’t they? Excited for you to take on number two–I’m sure you’ll be able to bounce from the first to the second like a pro.

Yay for new goals! So excited to follow you along the new journey- hoping that my injury recovery follows along the path so that I can get back to 26.2 this fall!

I find that a mental rest and recovery is just as important as a physical rest after a hard training period. Good luck with your new goal!

I love to think up new goals. It motivates me to get out there and run. Wishing you the best with yours!

How exciting! Good luck with training for #2. I haven’t quite gotten back into a good fitness groove since my marathon earlier this month. Maybe this coming week will bring my groove back. 🙂

I spent a long while “training my brain” and it made a huge difference. I can share my posts if you’re interested. Also – I’m running LA tooooo!
