This recovery business is over. The past few months I have been in full focus mode of training for my first full marathon. Now that the marathon is over, I am finding a new groove. Finding, embracing and challenging myself with a new fitness challenge.
Not having a plan or a goal put a damper on my motivation. The past two weeks I have been in recovery mode. But truth be told, I was in lazy and unproductive mode. I couldn’t find my groove or rhythm with what I wanted to do.
I need fitness challenges and races on the calendar to stay motivated. To find a new groove I need something to be groovy about… and I think I have found my new groove.
I found a new fitness challenge in that I will be training for and running my second full marathon in March. I will be running the LA Marathon on March 9. I have less than 12 weeks to train and get mentally ready to tackle another 26.2 miles.
I will be following another amazing training plan and incorporating strength, speed and of course running. I am excited to challenge myself to set a new personal record, challenging myself to beat my 4:37:42 finishing time from CIM.
Through my marathon training for CIM, I learned that my brain is a powerful tool for training. My fitness is 100% mental. My body will go where I tell it to go … push it. I am finding a new groove, challenging myself to keep running and setting new goals. I will push it. Running new races and hopefully setting new personal records.
Now to just stay away from the Christmas candy and treats that seem to be baking in my kitchen, arriving at my door, and hopping in my shopping cart.
