What to wear!? Race Fashion? #RunNWM #InspireForWomen

by Rachel on October 12, 2012 · 3 comments

The past few days I have been all a buzz regarding the Nike Women’s Marathon I will be running this weekend.  I am running only the half.  I have shared my excitement of using my new Yurbuds to listen to my new workout music to push #beyondthewall.

Now I am focusing on what to wear!!  The race will be in San Francisco.  The coast.  The forecast says that it will be beautiful, low of 60 and a high of 70.  However, what exactly does that mean in a town where I am unfamiliar with the elements!?

The race course is supposed to be beautiful, running the coast line and near historical landmarks.

SanFrancisco

However, what should my outfit be?  I want to be able to identify myself in a race photo … ya know, amidst the other 25,000 runners!!

I will be using the following fitness gear during my race:

I will be fully supported by wearing my UnderArmour Sports Bra.

My iPhone will carry my music (that I am still searching for fun music to listen to) and I will listen to the music through my yurbuds.

I will be using the Nike+ GPS app to log my run.

I will be packing my GU Energy and my phone (and keys) in my iFitness Belt.

I will be watching my heart rate by using my Polar FT40.

I will be avidly applying 2Toms to prevent chaffing.  Chaffing hurts!

I will be running in my Brooks Running Shoes.

I am at a complete loss is the smaller details… the FUN DETAILS…

Help me pick out my Race Outfit!

Do I wear capris and a running shirt?  Or a running SKIRT and a tank top?

Do I wear something flashy and fun like a sparkly top or a tutu? Or a funky hat or socks?

Do I wear a hat or head band? Sunglasses or no sunglasses?

Help this EXCITED Running Mama Out!!

Yes, I will share photos (either on my facebook fan page or my instagram feed) of possible race outfits!!  I would love your feedback!!

In general, less is more is a good adage for race attire – dress in layers so you can adapt to your changing body temperature and keep in mind that you’ll feel 20 degrees warmer than what it is outside.

I rely on this app a lot:

Have a great race!!!!!!

So excited! This half marathon is going to be a lot of fun. Race outfit suggestions, go for capris, sunglasses, bright socks. Bring some fun hats in case on race morning you feel like that’s the way to go!
