The past few weeks, I have been focusing on living a healthy and active lifestyle. I am making a new healthy change each week (which I plan on restarting the challenges here on the blog), spending more time with my family and less time on line, and adding strength to my cardio-filled day.
As a mom, I am always searching for more ways to get more energy to keep up with my active boys. What I have found works for me is to make myself a priority and get fitness in.
I try to sneak away (go to the gym if necessary) to get a quick Nike Training Club workout in like yesterday… 45 minutes of insane strength workout with no littles helping me with my weights, yoga mat, or gear. My new favorite workout on the app is the Challenger! Holy planks and rows batman! This workout gets me dripping sweat and gasping for breath like no other group class I have taken! Gotta love a self-motivated strength workout in an empty aerobics room!
I will admit, life has its ups and downs. Nothing like picking up two cranky children from the childcare to kill any good mood boosting endorphins. Or cranky neighbors who do not like the giggles, laughs and squeals of two little boys finding joy in killing bugs. But that is besides the point.
After being home for less than an hour, we decided to pack a quick bento style lunch and eat on the go. The boys love their bento lunches, and enjoy riding in the stroller on the river trail. We ended up walking and exploring new trails (getting lost!?!). We found a new hidden park to play and all the while enjoyed nature, fresh air, sunshine and family bonding. We sang songs, played i-spy, tried to catch butterflies and relaxed on the trail.
I love walking the trails with the boys, and I love when they allow me the privilege to walk 5 miles with them in the jogger without fighting! Pure bliss!
What family fitness activities do you enjoy together?

Every Friday I set up a little obstacle course for the whole family. I try to incorporate all of the body. School playgrounds are a great place to do this. We call it Fartlek Friday

I wonder how you manage to exercise with the boys in the stroller. Grace is 21 months and just insists on getting out to walk, get back in, get out, back in etc. It’s a chore!!
