Sometimes change is uncomfortable. Change hurts. Yet, change is good. At least that is what my family and I are reminding ourselves lately. We have decided to do something scary in this economic time, and put our house on the market.
The past few weeks, our pastor has been talking about stepping out in faith and getting uncomfortable. If I am going to be honest, selling my house in this economic time is very uncomfortable for me. Yet, it is something that I feel that God is calling us to do. Freeing ourselves from a mortgage gives us the freedom and mobility to move and go where God is calling us.
Yes, even if God is calling us to downsize and rent in town… we are willing to go. We are willing to relocate to a different town, state, and job. Basically we are stepping out in faith, getting uncomfortable, and letting God take the wheel. Giving Him full access to let His plan unfold in our lives.
With the uncertainty of God’s timing, new location, and future plan we have had to buckle down with our finances and keep an air tight budget. We have been checking our credit report and utilizing the free credit score websites.
With this new change brings excitement. I am excited for our new journey. The boys are excited. I am excited to see God’s plans unfold in His full glory as we are unburdened by a mortgage holding us to this particular location. Follow along with me for the ride, as I open myself (and my family) up for the uncomfortable journey of change.

Thank you for sharing. Very inspirational–even to this pastor 🙂 It’s an awesome and scary thing to be led by God and take those steps of faith. Yours kind of reminds me of Abraham setting out not knowing where he was going or ending up, but knowing God was leading him. I pray that at the right moments HE will lead you! Are you familiar with the book Radical by David Platt? I recently read it and taught through it and it was very challenging in a good way.

Thank you. I have just felt this tugging on my heart the past 2 years to sell our home, uproot and be ‘free’ to move where He pleases. We are just now doing this (as the husband was the last convert and the market didn’t help). I feel at peace with listing the house and for our future adventure. It is the uncertainty of where God will lead us and what He has called us to do… that is scary. 🙂
I am not familiar with the book, Radical. I will have to see if my local book store has it. 🙂

I think you are smart to trim down your budget in this economy. You must be a Dave Ramsey fan! It will be fun to see what God has in store for you!
