Life is going full steam ahead without a rest stop in sight. The sun is shining and spring is in the air. Busy is the name of the game in our house lately… with no sign of slowing down any time soon.
This past week was a whirlwind of business and activities.
Faith – The core value I have really been working on for myself as well as teaching my children, this past week, is Self-Control.
Titus 1:8 ~ “Be hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined.”
1 Corinthians 9:27a ~ “I discipline my body and keep it under control…”
Corinthians 9:25a ~ “Every athlete exercises self-control in all things.”
We are always learning and growing in our faith. Self-control is such a difficult concept to teach and at times be an example of. I love the image to the left, “Self-control is knowing you CAN but deciding you won’t.” That statement is SO true in our house… knowing you CAN keep your hands to yourself, say kind words, not use the bad words, be respectful, and stay out of the cookie jar. But choosing NOT to. We are all working on self-control.
Family – Our family has been crazy busy with C’s T-ball schedule. We have 2 games a week with one practice night in between.
It has been a HOOT watching Calvin play ball and learn the game with his fellow teammates. He has hitting down and is learning new positions daily. He has played catcher, pitcher, first base, short stop and 2nd base this past week. The big kicker is teaching him to play his position not the entire field.
Even Peyton and Tristen are loving the game of baseball… if by GAME you mean finding as many sticks and rocks near the field with your new friend. Even gross items that are left on the ground for a reason…
…Then my answer is a loud YES!
Fitness – This past week I have had an active week. I ran/walked over 19 miles. This included a local 5K race on Saturday in which I PR’d (set a personal record – personal best) by almost 2 minutes!
I still need to work on my strength fitness goals for this coming week. I began the week with the 100/200/200 challenge only to be sidelined by my wrist failing me (making the pushups impossible to do). I plan on picking that challenge back up this coming week.
Fun – We have enjoyed the spring weather and warmer temperatures by spending the majority of our waking FREE time outside.
You can see in this snap shot, Tristen has taken a great interest in baseball (probably because we are always at a game or practice or playing at home). He loves to hit the ball off the tee, yet refuses to hold the bat correctly (he holds the bat upside-down).
The big boys are behind him, Peyton on the trampoline and Calvin in the sandbox in the far back. We love to play outside and have fun… whether the playing is together or individually. Fun is outside play!
Funk – I mentioned above in the fitness section that I hurt my wrist. I have no idea what I did to kink my wrist. The beginning of the week I was having issues/pain in my RIGHT wrist. Thankfully that only lasted a day or two. However, my over compensating and working with my left hand has led to me wearing this lovely accessory on my LEFT hand for the past few days.
I am noticing that the pain is slowly subsiding… but it is still there. I really notice it when I am holding and/or nursing Tristen. He is getting to be such a big little boy… my hand/wrist isn’t able to take the weight much longer.
Thankfully, since the sunshine is out and the temps are warmer we have been outside enjoying the day… my mood funk has not been down but UP!
Here is to a happy, healthy, sunshine filled, active week!
