As many new years resolutions have a central theme of living a healthier lifestyle… so does this blog post and one of my goals for 2017. The search for a Super life by eating healthier and making a conscious effort and choice for the items I choose to purchase and consume. There are many products out there promising to be whole, healthy, and “good for you” to promote health and healing.
Ultimately, for me, focusing on Christ and having Him guide me with my choices leads me to live a super life.
When it comes to nutrition, Harper Collins sent me the book Superlife to read, learn, and share with you what I thought about the book. The author is a superfoods expert, nutritionist, and the creator of Shakeology (which I am familiar with during my time as a beachbody coach). Darin Olien provides and shares the key to understanding and utilizing the five life forces – the sole factors that determine whether or not we will be healthy, fit, and free of illness.
The five life forces are: quality nutrition, hydration, detoxification, oxygenation, and alkalization. He details how we can maintain these processes by allowing our bodies to rest. He tells us how we can maintain healthy weight, prevent even the most serious of diseases, and feel great. He explains that all of this is possible without any of the restrictive or gimmicky diet plans that never work in the long term.
I learned a lot from this book, and to be honest… it made me interested and wanting to research his Ultimate Reset program he created with beachbody… as well as reconsider taking Shakeology (a nutrient dense superfood meal replacement shake).
As with all things healthy living… and change… I haven’t made the leap to whole and superfoods with my diet and nutrition. However, it is something that I am still learning about, am passionate about learning more, and really makes me miss living in California where the produce is fresh (or seems to be) year round.
My 2017 focus is balance. This is true for all aspects of my life… especially with my healthy living goals. Perhaps reading this book is just the kick I need to help me with eating whole/healthy/superfood charged foods to help my body regain balance.
If you are curious to learn more about Olien’s five simple fixes to help you be internally (I won’t necessarily promote eternally) awesome, you should check out this book.
TLS Book tours sent me this book for the sole purpose to review. No compensation was received. All opinions are my own.
