Just as we pack away our Christmas decorations, it is time to begin thinking about another gift giving holiday. Valentines Day.
Valentine’s Day causes many men to groan. Maybe I am just lucky that the leading men in my life just love Valentine’s Day. {sarcasm} My father proudly boasts, it is just another Hallmark holiday. My sweet, sensitive and romantic husband calls this day, Stupid Day of Love. Either way, Valentines Day is very much publicized as a day of love.
Can you see that I am just surrounded by happy and excited men in my life about this holiday? All joking aside, my 10 year wedding anniversary is coming up the week before Valentines Day. I am sure my husband is thinking long and hard about what to bless me with for our anniversary and also Valentines Day. However, if he hasn’t even begun thinking about it… this post is for him (and anyone else who is looking for Valentine’s Day gift ideas).
I say this in gest because a few weeks ago, I caught my husband reading my blog. Hi honey, if you are reading this post, it is for you! {hint hint}
I love flowers. Most women love flowers. Flowers have so many different meanings behind them… and can almost instantly lift anyone’s spirits when they are given a bouquet of flowers. I will be honest, I love gifts… any heart felt gift is a win with me.
At a loss as to what to get your special someone? Here are some of my suggestions for Valentines Day gift ideas for that special someone in your life.
Flowers. Now a days you can pick out, purchase and have your own flowers delivered straight to your sweethearts door… all without leaving the comfort of your home. You can even purchase these beautiful flower arrangements from your smart phone! This is perfect for someone who doesn’t want to brave the malls or department stores.
Chocolate. Yes, I know that there is a stigma with a box filled with chocolates. But come on, what girl doesn’t love a box of good quality chocolate? I know that I would be very happy if my husband picked out my favorite chocolate candy.
Time. We are so busy today. Our society tells us to go, go, GO! I have found the gift of time. Uninterrupted, quality time to be the most special gift anyone could give me. As a mom, I realize that my children love this gift also. As a wife, the gift of time from my husband is something that we take for granted.
Take your special someone on a walk, hike, dinner, or just sit and be with them. Get reacquainted with them. The gift of time is so much more special that many realize.
Words. Words of affirmation, appreciation and love are such a special gift! By telling your special someone how you feel about them, without any expectations in return, that is a truly special. Just like the gift of time, our words are taken for granted. We assume that others know how we feel about them. Yet, by reminding, encouraging, and affirming our love for them is such a special treat.
I love you. Short. Simple. To the point. When was the last time you told your loved one you loved them? Tell them again. Tell them every day. Every moment of every day. This is a special gift.
What was your favorite gift you have either received or given as a gift?

I think for Valentine’s Day and anniversaries, the best gifts are joint gifts. For example, our first V Day ELEVEN years ago (holy crap), my then boyfriend (now husband) and I got a puppy. Casey is our first baby and we got her a “sister” 2 V-day’s later when we got our second puppy!

I love the gift ideas. I think I need to forward this to my husband, ha! My husband and I are really not big on Valentine’s Day, because for one, his birthday is on Feb. 16th and second, we both feel you should show your love for someone throughout the year. But, we still try to do a little something for each other on the day, even as little as a card. However, flowers would be nice, too!
Anyhow, I love your blog and it is good to meet another local blogger! We will have to meet up one of these days! Thanks for stopping by mine.
