My children LOVE to read. We take weekly (sometimes multi-weekly) trips to the library to explore new books, adventures, and learn new things. I am homeschooling my two youngest boys (ages 4 and 2 years) and we spend a big portion of our day reading and exploring new books.
I am a member of NetGalley where I can read, review and check out new books from publishers. The five books below are just a few books that we have been exploring and using as part of our learning lessons this week.
From the kitchen to the living room to the bedroom and the bathroom there are over 100 words for baby to discover in this exciting romp around the house – both inside and out! Photos of familiar objects and new discoveries will have children talking about all the fascinating things they find at home and in the backyard too.
The colorful, lively characters in Small Medium Large will captivate young readers as they discover the wonderful world of relative sizes – an important stepping stone to learning early math skills. Small, Medium, Large and all their friends: Extra Large, Huge, Enormous and Teeny-weeny, Itsy bitsy, Miniscule and others join colossal in this super-sized learning adventure featuring a dynamic double gate old that can hardly contain all the fun!
Readers will have fun both watching the antics of this little dog and interpreting the animated facial expressions that range from determination and dejection to joy. While readers follow the dog from bad to good in rhythmic two- or three-word panels, they’ll also learn how to use “up” phrases.
Together with UP CAT, this engaging board book will expand toddlers’ vocabulary while delighting them with everyday scenes in the lives of two adorable animals.
A cat can get tangled up in all kinds of fun and mischief between wake-up time and nap time. Follow along with the playful text as Cat laps up milk, messes up the house, gets up to no good, stands up to a visiting dog, and finally curls up for a nap in the sun.
The expressive, energetic illustrations against simple backgrounds mirror the spare but rhythmic text that teaches about “up” actions while leading the reader through a day in the life of a cat.
Peter takes pride in being rude and gross. He doesn’t think manners are important at all. But when his family starts to use bad manners, Peter gets a reality check. (For ages 4-6)
Part of the Little Boost series. Little Boost books tackle early life lessons in a funny and relatable manner. From learning to share to telling lies, life isn’t easy. These picture books include many teachable moments, which is an important element in a children’s book. Caregivers will be able to engage young children with an entertaining story while introducing and instilling important life skills. These books are sure to give everyone a little boost!
Disclosure: I received these books free for sole purpose to read and review through netgalley.com. No compensation was received.
