A few weeks ago, I took a class at church titled: Core Values. I sat in a room with a few dozen fellow members of my church learning the importance of teaching and identifying your own personal core values.
This class taught me, as a Mom, the value of picking and choosing what values I want to instill in my children. What do we value as important. Because, ultimately, those values are going to determine how our children view the world.
You make time for what is important to you.
Do you value Fitness? Food? Media (computer/TV/Phone)? Family? Helping others? Faith? Education? Popularity? Looks? Money?
This class really forced me to re-evaluate what myself and our little family deems important and chooses to value. I am still working out the list of our family’s core values… but since taking the class, I am much more aware of where I spend my time, money, and attention.
I know my children are always watching the way I act, what I do and say, and where I spend my time.
I am choosing to parent to inspire values. I pray that the way I have chosen to parent, will instill GOOD God-fearing values in my children.
I know that my children already value fitness and fun … I just pray that they value FAITH even more so.
Above my boys are showing Mommy their push-ups and planks (Monkey-See-Mommy-Do). Always an adventure in Motherhood… always learning… always growing.
