Hi friends. I have been contemplating sharing publically my weight loss goals. I know that it is such a personal journey and number. A few years ago I did the weekly weigh in where I shared the number on the scale and all that jazz. To be honest, it wore me out and I became obsessed. Which is why I put away the scale for a few years and stopped talking about it on the blog.
It is personal. It is raw. It is an emotional roller coaster.
The past few weeks I have slowly began to share with you that I am back on that sharing my weight loss journey bandwagon.
My goal is to lose weight. Yes, see a lower number on that blasted scale.
My goal is to lose body fat percentage.
My goal is to gain muscle mass.
This whole process of making sure that the weight I am losing is body fat and not muscle mass is an interesting one. I am a science experiment. I am tweaking my macros. I am weighing food. I am recording my meals on myfitnesspal. I am hyper focused … not obsessed.
So… the past FIVE weeks I have been visiting my local Complete Nutrition KC to talk to the manager, Dustin, about my fitness goals. He is super helpful, non judgmental, and full of information and suggestions. I have been using and weighing in on their fancy ‘InBody” scale. The best part… besides all of this nutritional help and guidance… it is free!
I weighed in yesterday afternoon and here is my FIVE week check in. (no drastic results… but making progress in the right direction):
Weight Loss: -2.8lbs
Body Fat: -4.2lbs
Lean Muscle Mass: +0.2
Percent Body Fat: – 2%
The biggest results were just this past week (even with my family vacation and NOT eating according to my IIFYM)
Weekly Weigh In (Week 5):
Weight Loss: – 0.5lb (weight)
Lean Muscle Mass: + 0.7 muscle lbs
Perfect Body Fat: – 0.8%
Slowly but surely, I am making progress towards my goal. I might not have the most popular and newsworthy weight loss story… but it is mine and I am excited to enjoy the ride.

Go. You. I am focusing on this too. My goal is to be 145 by Christmas. I want to enter the new year back in maintenance mode!

I have been contemplating this as well… to share publicly my desire to change that number on the scale. I’m thinking I would stay motivated to stick with whatever plan I begin because I will have a community of people to share with and get support. Good on you for making a great change in the right direction and still be able to have that balance of enjoying your vacation too.

Kudos to you for being open and honest with all of us about your goals. Sharing these things is never easy, but I think the more transparent you are, the more support you’ll have as you work towards achieving your goals.

Go you!! You are doing it right! Weight loss isn’t about drastic drops or fast fixes. It’s a slow and steady process. Focusing on fat loss and muscle gain is a great way to make sure you are losing weight the healthy way. Keep it up!

Great work! It’s not just about the numbers on the scale, though, right? Glad you’re measuring body fat and muscle too. And how about your fitness gains? Progress is progress!

Have you heard of Isagenix? It’s a great nutritional system for not only weight loss but energy and performance and helps to lose weight AND maintain muscle mass. I’m using it for fueling and energy but have several friends that have used it for the exact situation that you are talking about. Might be worth a look.

You’re doing great! I need to get back to tracking my intake. I also want to lose weight but I hatteeee tracking my food. I always forget and I never eat the EXACT serving size so it’s a hassle. Yes, basically I’m lazy lol. Keep up the good work!
