KidSwitch, I couldn’t wait to give it a try.
As a mom of three boys (ages 5 and under), I am always on the lookout for products that can help make my crazy chaotic household run smoothly. I want to make sure my children are not only safe, but independent as well. So when I was given the chance to review a fantastic children’s extender for light switches, theThe KidSwitch is an attachment that fits over a light switch to let small children safely and easily turn lights on and off without having to reach, stretch or use unstable items as stepping-stools. I was more than willing to eliminate a potential injury from my children standing on their monster trucks (or other toy) as well as eliminating scuff marks on my walls. I couldn’t wait to see how the KidSwitch worked in my household.
When it arrived, I couldn’t help but smile at the child-friendly moon design of the KidSwitch. I was also pleasantly surprised to see that it glowed in the dark. The light switch in our household that most needed the KidSwitch was the bathroom.
I was very impressed by how easy the KidSwitch was to install. First, I used a piece of masking tape to secure the faceplate to the wall and removed the two screws that held it in place. Then, I placed the top of the extender over the light switch and used the special screws that were included with the device to refasten the faceplate. Just like that, the KidSwitch was mounted in place.
Calvin is tall enough to reach the light switches, and he absolutely loved the KidSwitch. Peyton was the perfect size for the KidSwitch, and for a few days we had a lot of light flickering as he happily pulled on the cheerful moon to turn the lights on and off. Tristen (13 months) even got in on the action a few times when he figured out how to maneuver the KidSwitch!!
My oldest has convinced my 2 year old that there is indeed monsters in the dark. The kidswitch has allowed Peyton to use the bathroom independently (turning on and off the light) which is a HUGE bonus for Mommy!! Which means I don’t have to run to turn on and off the light every few hours! The glow-in-the-dark feature was so helpful not just for Peyton but also for anyone that needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
The KidSwitch fits on standard toggle light switches. Because the device uses the switch itself to operate, it will not work on dimmer switches. You can watch a great little video of the KidSwitch in action here.
Overall, the KidSwitch proved itself as a child-friendly and effective device in our household. If you have small children that will stop at nothing to reach the light switch, you will definitely want to check out the KidSwitch for yourself!
Kidswitch is an multi award winning product that puts lightswitches in reach and affords toddlers the independence of turning on and off lights by themselves, freeing parents from this repetiive task and allowing toddlers to learn good “green” energy saving habits!
Its simply the best when a child can start doing things themselves and it makes everyones lives easier! Moms love them and have awarded us as a result three years in a row!

KidSwitch works on four types of switches!
I think this is a great product, I often have to remind my son to turn out the lights when he leaves a room and I think having this product would definitely make it easier for him to do that.

I didn’t even think about it – Potty training! The light switch in the bathroom is so needs to be reachable by my 3 yo. She runs to the bathroom on the last minute, moves the step stool to the switch, climbs, ON, gets off, pushes it to the toilet, climbs, sits down. KidSwitch could really help her out. Bright idea!
