Getting older and slowing down is a part of life. Trying to slow the hands of time by choosing to live a healthy and active lifestyle takes effort and commitment. Over the years, I have shared my story on this blog and how I am passionate about living a healthy and active lifestyle. However, life does happen and healthy living sometimes takes a backseat.
For me, adjusting to working full time and the busy sports schedules of my children has made healthy family meals and fitness a challenge. In order for it to happen, we have to make time.
I shared with you a few weeks ago that I was embracing a new challenge #healthiertogether … a healthy living challenge with my dog, Daisy. In this challenge, I will try to eat healthier and move more… same with my Daisy. She will be eating NuloTM Pet Food (and loves it) and enjoy family walks/hikes.
The days are shorter. The temperatures are cooler. We, as a family, must take advantage of the daylight when we can. We enjoy walking/hiking on the many different trails in our area. Daisy loves the exercise, the smells, and the change of scenery (from our backyard).
These relatively short 2-3 mile family walks allows for everyone to get fresh air (even if it is chilly), movement, and for my children it allows them to get their words out relatively uninterrupted.
Daisy is just happy being with her pack and loves going on w-a-l-ks with us. Yes, when you say “walk” she gets very excited… so we have to spell it around her now.
Healthy, active humans know the importance of quality nutrition to their overall well ‐being and the same translates to their pets. That’s why they choose Nulo. We picked up our Nulo pet food from PetSmart. If you have a cat, you can also purchase Nulo for cats.
Things I like about the Nulo Brand
Nulo blends are made and distributed in smaller batches to ensure they spend less time on the shelf and taste better when they land in the bowl.
Nulo‘s unique recipes uses fresh chicken, lamb and salmon and pairs them with yummy things like apples, carrots, lentils, and sweet potato.
Nulo’s formulas provide an industry ‐leading, animal – based protein level that nourishes growth, repairs muscle and tissue, and enhances the flavor of every recipe.
Daisy can’t tell me with words how she feels about Nulo. What I can tell is that she loves eating it. Her favorite is the canned lamb & lentils recipe. I can tell that she feels young and energetic. In fact, she has been eating Nulo for a few weeks now and her energy on our family walks has increased. She no longer drags her leash and becomes tired halfway through. She is wagging her tail and chasing after the boys the entire hike.
Thankfully she was in a hurry as were the boys… we had to beat the sun to get to our car. It was getting colder and walking in the dark isn’t very much fun when you aren’t prepared. We were able to enjoy this golden sunset as we crested the hill to head home.
