Oh my goodness. I am not going to even try to SEO this post. I have been so busy with life outside the blog, that I almost forgot to keep sharing what has been going on the past few weeks. Whew! Buckle in, it is going to be a long ride!
Setting Goals
The past few months (well, since September really), I have committed and set a goal to resume teaching full time. As many of you have read and seen me share, I have taken the necessary steps to make sure that teaching full time (again) is something that I wanted to do. I do. This past spring semester, I took a college class to renew my teaching certificate. I passed with an A. 4.0 baby.
I also stepped out in faith, outside of my comfort zone, and applied for a teaching job. I applied for a 2nd grade teaching position. Throughout the whole process I learned to be patient, humble myself, and to keep my head down and to keep working on my goal. I will be honest and say that the end result didn’t happen the first time, nor as quickly as I would have liked… but I was patient and persistent. I am excited to share that I will be embarking upon a new adventure starting next week… full time working mommy as a 2nd grade teacher.
I know God is blessing me with this career change and I am excited to get back in the classroom full time.
Adjusting to Working Full Time
My hat is off to all you working mamas. Last week I had a full day of training, I was scrambling to find someone to watch my boys (which involved taking them to/from soccer camp). Parenting isn’t easy… let alone watching someone else’s busy involved kids. While I was in my meeting, my girlfriends texted me photos of my happy kids. I am thankful for my tribe of amazing, supportive friends. Adjusting to working full time is one that I know I will struggle with for a while… maybe always.
My T-man playing and creating a 2-story match box car ramp with his new favorite buddy. Yes, shortly after they moved in their little guy and mine decided to ‘write’ on their house with landscaping rocks. Sigh.
All three boys enjoyed another great soccer camp. My youngest (again) enjoyed hanging out with another one of his good buddies goofing off and showing off their cool soccer tricks.
Running and Fitness
I will be honest, there hasn’t been a whole lot of running going on here the past few months. I was busy with working full time and being a mom to three little boys with busy sports schedules. But that is my excuse, I own it. With my lack of focusing on running, fitness and even eating healthy… my weight has crept back up and my fitness has declined.
I dusted off my Polar Balance scale (review coming soon) and charged up my Polar A360 (review coming soon) and decided it was time to get serious. No more excuses. I am capable of more than I know.
Snap Chat
Okay, I know it might seem silly to have its own title… but I am really digging it lately. I can quickly post and share what is going on behind the blog on snap chat. No pretty photos (unless the fun filters count). No staged photos… all real time photos of what we are doing at that moment. If you are curious about what my day looks like: sports camp, fitting in fitness, parenting, eating, life in general… you can totally check it out. I am RunningRachel1 (yes there is a number 1 at the end as my name was taken before I signed up).
Life Goes On
Alright, my few minutes of quiet are over. My boys are over at my neighbors playing in a water fight, entertaining and distracting them. Meanwhile the roofers attempt to cover our exposed roof… they didn’t finish re-roofing our house today. Fun stuff. Sigh. Time to resume the parenting role and make dinner before a rousing game of baseball before the storms tonight!
