Smiling is my favorite. It is one of my favorite things to do – smile. In fact, it is one of the first things I notice about someone when I first meet them. I notice their smile, their teeth, and how they exhibit happiness through their smile. Smiling is my favorite!
It is amazing how much a smile can make or break a first impression. Smiling is one of the most important non-verbal communication skills we have as humans. We can show our mood, preference, behavior and personality through our smile.
I love how one smile often leads to another. Have you ever met someone who smiles really big and had the urge to smile back?! Smiles are contagious!
It is very important that we take care of our beautiful smiles. Proper oral hygiene is not only important for our smiles but for overall health! The past few months, I have been using Invisalign to straighten my teeth. These past few months, I have been hyper-diligent with oral hygiene and my visits to my dentist.
Five Habits That Destroy Your Smile
1. Not Brushing
Brushing your teeth at least 2 times a day helps remove food particles and plaque stuck to your teeth.
2. Not Flossing
Flossing removes the cavity-causing bacteria left behind from food particles that get stuck between teeth.
3. Not replacing your toothbrush often enough
Toothbrushes should be changed every three to four months.
4. Extreme Vanity Care
Brushing too hard with your tooth brush can damage your teeth and gums, hello receding gum line. Also bleaching your teeth excessively can not only give you an unpleasant glow (hello Ross from Friends), but it is super hard on your teeth.
5. Not Visiting Your Dentist Twice a Year
Visiting your dentist bi-annually can help keep your smile shining bright! Without regular cleanings, bacteria built up in your mouth can lead to decay, cavities, and eventually tooth loss! No more pretty smile with missing teeth! Regular visits to the dentist are essential to not only prevent these problems, but also catch any problems that do exist before they cost you your smile.
Having good dental insurance, like Guardian Dental, plays an important tool in protecting your overall health and the health of your family. Even a simple trip to the dentist costs money, however, and with a family or more serious issues, the costs can quickly multiply. That is where dental insurance comes into play. A dental insurance plan from Guardian can help cover the cost of basic dental services as well as most costly procedures.
Guardian Dental plans can be purchased individually at any time throughout the year. You do not need to have a qualifying event to purchase dental insurance.
