There is something magical about the first snow of the season. Here in Kansas City, we experienced our first snow fall of the season just after Christmas. The boys have enjoyed playing out in the snow: sledding, snow ball fights, and more!
I was able to escape for a quick run the other day to play in the snow too. I headed out to run the snowy trail near my house. There is something magical and peaceful about freshly fallen snow… with minimal tracks.
My running plan (through #MyASICS) is pretty simple the next few weeks… run a set duration at a comfortable pace. I am enjoying my ease of transition back into training as the pressure is low and I can run for the love of running.
The fresh, crisp, cool winter air was refreshing. I was able to stop and snap a few fun photos of my run… because running in the snow was so much fun.
Apparently someone decided to drive on the trail earlier in the day marking the trail for me. It was a bummer to see the tracks, but it was welcomed so I knew where to run. Ha!
Slow and steady I ran through the snow. My stride and gait were altered to not slip on the snow/ice. I felt like I was running through sand at times. Strength and conditioning all at once. Runs like this remind me why I love running.
My fitness and running goals for 2016 are simple: recognize and acknowledge my limits (time, energy, mental capacity, physical ability) and then push through them. Challenging myself in all areas of my life. I can do hard things.
Dashing and running through the snow is so much fun. I do prefer running in warmer weather, but living in the MidWest and running in the winter means running outside.

I remember seeing the runners (and bikers!) in the middle of winter in Michigan. Makes me shiver just thinking about it. 🙂

No snow for us yet in north Texas…and not sure we will see any. But yes, we run and walk. My 6-year-old has to or he would go crazy in the house all day!!

I admit, when I see snow, I opt for the treadmill, lol. I love running… but I’m too worried I’d slip in the snow!

Nope, not outdoors in the winter. I prefer the warmth of a heated gym, even if it is just on a treadmill.

Sadly I don’t run! Not indoor, outdoor, snow, or summer. I do like to walk but only in the summer!
