Life is busy and amazing. There are some days when I just want to sit here and share with you all the new and crazy things going on in our little family. Honestly, there is not a whole lot of running the past few weeks… but more running errands and running around! Ha! I am still getting used to working while balancing motherhood. I am a quick learner, but this new trick is taking some time!
I wanted to share with you a quick few things that we have been enjoying this week… and a few fun things that are NEW too!
Soccer
The T-man is loving that his soccer season has started. He plays for the peewee division of soccer (U6). The first two games he pretty much dominated the field every time he got the ball. He scored every time. I think it helps that he has watched and played with his big brothers.
This week he and his coach worked on his passing skills. He did a great job dribbling the ball down to his side of the field and setting it up and passing the ball to his teammate. He didn’t score as many goals this week, but he had an assist for every goal that was not his. #ProudMama
Soccer Snacks with Stonyfield
I know that there is a huge controversy (well at least with those who I follow on fb) with the soccer snack game. I will be honest, I am not a huge fan of my 5 year old having a chocolaty cupcake and a juice box at 7PM after playing soccer. If *I* wouldn’t refuel my body after a workout that way… why would I do the same for my child?
This week was my turn to bring snacks for the game. I was going to bring orange slices and water for the kids… but didn’t want a huge revolt. I decided to bring a healthy organic snack that I know my kids (and the team would) love! Stonyfield Organic Fruit Snacks.
As an ambassador for Stonyfield (remember me working with them last year as I ran on their team for the Boston Marathon), I received a box full of these delicious fruit snacks to eat, enjoy and share!
When I say that these fruit snacks are delicious, I am not joking! The moment you open the bag you smell how good they are going to taste! The best part: these yummy, cow-shaped snacks are made for kids, but I won’t tell if YOU eat them too! They are more than delicious: they are also organic, made from fruit and vegetable juices, lots of Vitamin C, no artificial flavors or toxic pesticides and free of GMO’s. Oh yes, they are also fat free and GLUTEN FREE! Enjoy! I know I did and will.
Invisalign
I have written about Invisalign in the past. I have shared how I was one of those weird kids growing up that always wanted braces and straight teeth. BUT my dentist never said I needed it because it was not necessary. My teeth were not that bad but I did notice that as I age my teeth were getting more crowded. This is normal. However, I was becoming self conscious of one particular tooth, my snaggle.
My insurance did not cover any orthotics because I am over the age of 18. I am not working with Invisalign. I am spending the big bucks to have straight teeth… finally in my thirties. I thought it would be fun to share with you and document my journey through invisalign! As I type, I am on Day 2… so pretty fresh and new!
Trail Running
I have not had many opportunities to fit in fitness the past few weeks. I am learning that WHEN I CAN I need to make sure that I do. This week I decided that I needed to run and I made a choice to say no to some pretty amazing things… in order to say YES to this pretty amazing run. I am glad I did.
I love where we live and how trails are so easily accessible to run on. For me, trail running (even a gravel trail) is such a great way for me to reflect, regroup, and regain focus of what needs to be done. Trail running for me is my happy place!
Weight Loss
I am not sure what is going on… but I am happy to report that things are finally looking up… or down… on the scale! Not huge drastic numbers, but we are finally going in the right direction. At my weekly weigh in earlier this week, I am down in weight (pounds), up in muscle mass, and down in body fat! Yay!
I am not doing a whole lot of exercise or running (see above). I am eating like normal. I am not doing a whole lot of things differently.
I think what has changed is that I am happy. Like really truly happy. I am re-finding myself… and I feel good! Finally!
Teaching and being back in the classroom (even substituting) makes me happy. Almost like I have a sense of purpose again.
I think the lack of stress (well, a different kind of stress) and the self-confidence boost has finally kicked in to my mental state that was holding on to the weight.
