I love shopping at sporting goods stores. There is something motivational about seeing the images, motivational quotes, sports gear, running shoes, outdoor toys, and fitness fashion. This is my kind of candy store.
I decided to take the boys shopping with me before swimming lessons. I wanted to pick up a few quick items to freshen up my workout wardrobe. I forgot how a quick shopping trip isn’t always quick when you involve three little monkeys. My monkeys.
Oh boy. Here we go. Can you tell how excited I am? Shopping. Shopping for clothes. Shopping for clothes with my three boys… before swimming lessons? Let the adventure begin!
After checking out the soccer and football section for the boys, we made it to the well lit and brightly colored women’s area.
They have so many brands to provide you with whatever you are looking for. It is honestly an amazing selection. I forgot how many different fitness brands there are to choose from! The styles, textures of material, colors, patterns, and theme of the clothing was so fun to explore.
The boys were very excited to “help” me with my shopping and outfit purchases. They noticed how wide the aisles were. It was wide enough for my 9 year old to spread his arms wide and still not touch the other side. To my 5 year old’s disappointment, he couldn’t hide from me as easily. I was happy with this update of space (it made it easier to keep track of my monkeys).
I love the colorful displays and clearly labeled items. I am always in need for a supportive high impact sports bra… so I spent a lot of time checking out the brightly colored sports bras.
Of course, as luck would have it… being a boy mom… as I am checking out sports bras to protect and secure my girls… my boys were checking out the girls on the mannequin nearby. I think hers are pretty secure, son.
The fitting rooms are huge. Huge! There is plenty of room for a double jogging stroller and still have room to move around. They are well marked and labeled up high. This is a great feature because I found that I was not walking around searching for the fitting room very long.
The boys were unsure what was going to happen next as we walked in to our box of a dressing room. I think my oldest had a terrified and repulsed idea of what was going to happen next.
Yes. Then moments later, my oldest and youngest thought it was hilarious that they were going to be watching as I tried on possible workout clothes. I was feeling defeated and my patience was running thin. Let’s do this, I muttered under my breath.
Nothing like having your children yell (or so it seems like they were yelling for the whole store to hear) about how my clothes were fitting (too big or too small), how certain parts were floppy, flat, biiiIiiiig, wiggly, dimply or simply bubbling over where they weren’t supposed to. If you were shopping at our Kansas City DICK’s Sporting Goods store earlier… my apologies… or you are welcome for the giggles!
There were so many great styles, colors, patterns, and textures to choose from. I couldn’t decide between adding more of my beloved capris to the mix, buying shorts (because it is so hot lately), or stepping outside of my fitness fashion comfort zone and get something uniquely different.
Thank goodness the fitting room has a doorbell that you can use to alert the staff for help with a different size (needed that a lot). My apologies to the DSG staff for the repetitive rings from three little eager helpers.
Shopping with the boys is always an adventure. Thankfully the large dressing room, doorbell for service/help, and patient workers at Dicks Sporting Goods made this shopping trip a successful one. Check back in a few days to see what outfit I chose, a fun workout, PLUS a chance to win a gift card so YOU can pick out a new fashionable workout outfit!

I avoid clothes shopping if I have to take my ONE child. My ONE GIRL child. 😉 You are so brave! But I love the tales of your life with boys.
Dick’s Sporting Goods are always great stores, I haven’t been to one in a long time though. I was hoping to hit one up on our upcoming trip, but that’s doing a good job of quickly unraveling!

I’m not laughing at you, I’m laughing with you! What? You’re not laughing?
Seriously (or not), I’m giggling as I read this. As a 2-boy mom, it sure brings back memories. Although I don’t think I ever dared to bring them in the dressing room with me once they could say out loud how silly I looked. Can’t wait to see what you purchased!
Ange @ Cowgirl Runs says
We don’t have DICK’S in Canada, but I LURVE checking out running and fitness apparel, even if it’s just window shopping. It’s always so pretty!

Dick’s is one store I never seem to visit alone as they have something for everyone in the family. I can’t wait to see what you picked out!
Jenn says
I really like Dick’s. It’s a bit of a hike for me to get to, and I’m pretty sure that I wouldn’t take my son for outfit trying on, LOL! You are brave!
Sara P. (@SensiblySara) says
We shop at Dick’s a ton – but usually it’s for hunting stuff (corn, camo, etc.) for my husband. I try not to go into sporting goods stores with my kids alone – it ends in me losing my temper!!
Alicia says
Unfortunately we don’t have a Dick’s Sporting Goods near us, but we did when we lived in Virginia and it’s a great store!
