Some of my favorite blog posts (and bloggers) share a day in the life sneak peak from their day… behind the screen. I love these types of posts because I feel connected to them as a person, mother and potential friend. Ha! Many of you are either family members or close friends and read up on our life to stay connected and in touch.
I thought it would be fun to share a few photos and tid-bits from our life lately. It might not be too terribly exciting, but there are some fun new things that have been going on in our world!
The T-man started preschool 3 days a week! He was hesitant and resistant for the longest time about going to school not with Mommy. When asked he always proclaimed that he wanted to be homeschooled with Mama. It honestly wasn’t until he had his kindergarten screening a few weeks ago that he started showing (and talking about) an interest in going to pre-school. We decided to enroll him 3 days a week for half days. He loves it!
While T is at school, Mommy has been enjoying running her mid-week runs solo! This is a FIRST for me this training cycle as the majority of my mid-week runs have been pushing him in the jogger. Nothing like enjoying the taper, feeling like you are running super fast, and running solo!
I am enjoying running on new-to-me trails near my house. Today I decided to head out and run from my house to a nearby (1 mile from me) trail to the lake. There was not a person on the trail… only three HUGE wild turkeys that scared me silly when I turned the corner. In my defense, I think I scared them too!
After my run, I quickly showered and ate a snack before picking up T from school. My goodness… this Missouri humidity is going to take some getting used to! My hair was a curly, WET mess for a long time! Ha! No more dry air for this girl.
My post-run snack was a yummy Stonyfield Protein shake! Delicious!
After picking up T, we had lunch and ran a few errands before heading home. You know… exciting daily life stuff. Ha!
Upon returning home we noticed a box by the door! It was a fun mail day! Brooks Running sent me a Boston themed sneaker as a good luck gift for running Boston in less than 2 weeks. It is a super cute shoe and I look forward to running in it… after Boston. I have been running all my training runs in my Mizuno Wave Rider 18’s and I don’t plan on shaking things up at this point in the game.
Reading. Reading. Reading. We are really really working hard with catching up Precious P to his classmates. He has made tremendous strides with his fluency and word recognition. Hi progress is really amazing to me… even though we do have quite a bit of catching up to do. I love that he loves reading to me and still loves being read to. This is a good thing in my book!
Soccer. Soccer. Soccer. With three little boys who are playing soccer this year… our evenings and weekends are filled with juggling practices and games. Tonight we had P’s soccer practice and then T’s first practice and game! It was a warm and muggy evening… but we had a great time.
Joe-Cool Mr. C sported Mom’s aviator sunglasses during practice. Waiting and watching while your brother practices soccer is super boring at times… so C often found himself taking a few laps around the field to get his wiggles out.
While P had his team’s practice, the T-man worked on his ball control skills as he dribbled on the empty field nearby. He is quite the soccer player, I must say! My favorite thing about watching T play soccer is seeing the extreme concentration on his face … with his tongue out of his mouth.
T was super excited to finally sport his jersey and play his first game with his green team. He has been waiting for this day since his brother’s soccer season started a few weeks ago! Today was the day and he was excited! It was a joy to watch him on the field.
What a riot it is to watch seven little 4-5 year olds dressed in soccer gear run and learn a new sport. Ha! They were sure cute to watch! T even scored his first goal… and the only goal for the team that game! Way to go T-man!
After the game, we headed home for a whirlwind adventure of dinner, bath, books and bed! It was another late night for the boys and Mama. We were tired. There were unkind words shared (not proud, just being honest), and we are thankful for forgiveness, grace and new days for fresh starts.
Needless to say, these days may seem long, I know that looking back (in a few years) these years will seem so short! We are slowly but surely adjusting to life in the Kansas City area. Life lately is always full of adventure and fun new things to try and explore. We are enjoying our new adventures so far this month!

I see you spending TONS of time on the soccer field this summer. 🙂 So glad you’re getting some solo running in. It feels good doesn’t it?

So many great things are going on for you and your family, it sounds like the move has been very good for you guys, yay! My girls are in far too many sports – swimming and hockey are just winding down giving us a bit of a break and Amber’s skating lessons are just starting up. Sierra’s rep softball tryouts are in 2 weeks from now. In May we’ll be in full swing with Amber’s soccer, and Sierra and Brooke playing houseleague softball (and Sierra likely also playing on the rep team too). I’m so happy for you!
