It has been a few months since I have shared a five things Friday style post. My days lately are filled with these five family focused activities. Parenting: the days are long and the years are short… or so they say! Right now I am in the days are long phase. Ha!
I have been wanting to do a day in the life of our family style post.. but then I feel silly taking photos of the mundane activities we do (eat, run errands, play, and more). So this is more of a round up of how we have been spending our time (and money) the past few weeks. Life has been busy… but it has been a fun adventure for sure.
Library
We LOVE our local library. We visit it and check out a bag full of books at least once a week. The staff knows our faces and even the boys names. I love that the boys love going and are falling in love with reading. Yay for loving libraries!
Essential Oils and Leather Bracelets
Now, this is a new thing for me and my family. I have been experimenting with essential oils for a few months. I have purchased a few basic oils and blends. I decided to make a jump and use them on myself, my home, and my boys. I purchased leather bracelets to diffuse certain oils to help with calming (lavender), focus (Brain Power) and a few others.
My boys have commented that they believe the bracelets really do help them focus better in class. However, as my Precious P mentioned earlier this week that it “didn’t help him not make poor choices”… I told him that his choices were ultimately up to HIM. The bracelet and the oils can’t MAKE him not make those poor choices, but the bracelet CAN help him focus and calm down.
Soccer
Our schedule is all about soccer the past few weeks. We are either at soccer practice, soccer games, or practicing our new soccer skills in the back yard with friends. Soccer. Soccer. Soccer. It is fun… but boy is being a soccer mom a lot of work x3!
#BEBox
This is new to our family. I saw my friend Rachel share on her Facebook feed that she purchased this for her family last month. I knew that THIS is something I wanted (and needed) to do with my family. Basically it is a family (kid-friendly) monthly subscription box that is filled with daily (5) devotionals and a weekly/monthly theme. It comes complete with crafts for each kiddo, lunch box notes, weekly Bible verse, devotionals and conversation starters.
I bought mine and started it for the first time this month. We are just now finishing up the first week. We are focusing on the central theme of Bloom Where You are Planted… growing in God’s Word. This week our central focus is about Christ and his death and resurrection.
Juice Plus+ Vitamins
I have used JP in the past, and our family loves the gummies. In fact, I used to buy the capsule form, but my husband preferred the chewable that the boys used. So… I purchased Juice Plus+ gummies for everyone. It is a perfect sweet treat that is healthy… and the boys love eating their gummies each day. Who knew they are getting a healthy dose of their fruits and veggies along the way too!
So there you have it… just a few things that our family has been loving lately and enjoying.
Being new to Missouri, the boys are experiencing some new-to-them things: thunder storms so loud it shakes the house, bugs, all the camouflage, Under Armor is the preferred brand of choice, never knowing what to wear as each days weather is completely different, and going to school every day.
Our family is keeping busy and adjusting to Missouri life. We look forward to exploring our area as the weather warms up and experiencing all that there is to offer.

Ah, thunderstorms… that is one thing I kinda miss now that we live on the coast. Rarely see them anymore.
I need to get on the essential oils bandwagon I think.

It’s a little different with teenagers. We do a lot less family time than we used to. I really struggle with that!

I never thought to use leather to diffuse essential oils, what a great idea.

BEBox sounds awesome. I got to smell a White Fir essential oil yesterday and it was amazing. I’ve been using Nectar Essences and have loved them.

I love that your family loves the library! I remember spending lots of time at the library when I was younger.

We have enjoyed actually having good enough weather to get out and go biking in! SO nice!

We have been loving Grant’s Trail lately. It’s nothing new but this weather has us on the trail at least 4 times aweek!!
Rachel says
OH fun! When we lived in St. Charles I would run the Katy trail (I lived super close to their historic down area). So many great trails to run in the STL area…. now I need to find them in the KC area. 🙂

I haven’t been to a real-life library in ages – except to study. I used to go all the time as a kid to check out new books, but now I just read e-books.
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
I really miss going to the library with my kids! Now that they are older everything is online even all of their textbooks and I don’t think any teens even know what a real book looks like. Enjoy the time with them it goes by so fast. 🙂

My kids love those Juice Plus gummies too. Ah yes, thunderstorms. T’is the season.
