New week. New month. New toys. Committed to the plan (7 weeks till Boston!). We got snow again last week. It was super cold and well… cold. There were bits of warmth mid week with temperatures warming to the mid 40’s. Heat wave, I tell ya! But it quickly blew another cold front in with more snow. Boo. I am ready for spring!
Last week I received a new toy to try out and share my experience with you. It is the Skulpt Aim Device. Basically this devise measures Muscle Quality (MQ) and body fat percentages. No more pinching with calipers. No more getting dunked in a tank. This device is supposed to measure the quality of your muscles and let’s you know if you need work. Yes.
Sigh. Not surprisingly, each of my muscle groups reported in with a needs work reminder. Yes. Yes. I know… I am a work in progress! I am excited to keep track of my progress with this device though. Silver lining, yes?
The Lorna Jane Fit Challenge with Sweat Pink (FitApproach) is still going on. The past four weeks, I have enjoyed challenging myself with some new fitness moves and trying out a few of their healthy recipes in the cook book guide. PLUS I have enjoyed getting to know a few other challengers via social media and blogging and following along with their journey.
Last week’s training plan involved flexibility, lots of layers, and an attitude of gratitude of going with the flow. My mid-week runs were all with the stroller and often met with patches of icy snow on the trails. It happened… and we carefully maneuvered around it. Miles were covered… speed is still a work in progress.
Last Week’s Training Plan (What I Did) :
Monday: 1 miles easy (power walk) + BodyPump (Pump&Burn)
Tuesday: 3 miles + Body Pump (Pump &Burn)
Wednesday: 8.2 miles w/jogger
Thursday: BodyPump (Pump&Burn)
Friday: rest
Saturday: 15 miles solo snowy run
Sunday: active rest 2 mile hike with family
I was able to sneak away Saturday afternoon for my solo run. 15 miles of snow covered cold. It snowed on me the entire run. I wasn’t too cold the first part, but my return route I was cold. So cold that my potatoes (fuel) froze… and my phone froze! I hard to put my phone in my jacket to warm it up at the end of my run. Oy. Running in the teens (to low 20s) is totally making me stronger, right!?
This week, the temperatures are supposed to be above freezing. Yay! This weekend we are expecting sunshine and temps in the low to mid 50’s! Double Yay! I am excited to get out there and plan… er, run solo!
This Week’s Training Plan (What I plan to do) :
Monday: 1 mile easy (power walk) + BodyPump (Pump&Burn)
Tuesday: 3 miles w/stroller + Core
Wednesday: 5-8 miles w/stroller + Core
Thursday: BodyPump (Pump&Burn)
Friday: PiYo
Saturday: active rest
Sunday: 18 miles (solo)
In addition to sharing my fitness plan… I am focusing on nutrition. Again. I really like the organization and the way the 21 Day Fix nutrition plan is laid out. No guessing. I am sharing with you my meal plan for the week. I am doing a modified plan and will add/take away as needed. It will all depend on how I feel pre/post workout. You can get a general idea of how I will be fueling this week with the image below.
As always, I am a work in progress. I haven’t fully committed to a training plan for Boston (I know! Silly). My cross training and strength is a hodge podge. I am a mess… I am. But thank goodness I am motivated and committed to keep moving forward. Practice makes progress… and I am committed to make progress.
Share your training, nutrition, or goals for this week! Janice from The Fitness Cheerleader and I host the #MotivateME Monday link up … and we would love to help support and encourage YOU on your journey!

It must be so hard to acclimate to the snow! I am so tired of snow and ice, I’ve only been half marathon & half Ironman training, so no runs longer than 10 miles right now in all this. You are a rockstar for the 15 in the snow and freezing temps!

WHOA–I thought planning my food for the week was being organized! A full month, that’s awesome! I like some of your shakeology mixes and will give them a try.
