The past few weeks (months really), I have been trying to increase my daily protein. Protein is so important when it comes to building your muscles (that are broken down when working out) as well as keeping your full. Protein is good.
Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Our body uses protein to build and repair tissues. Pretty much everything in our body (hair, nails, bones, muscles, cartilage, skin and blood are either made of protein or use it to sustain life). Protein is good.
I will be honest, I am not much of a meat eater. I eat it. I enjoy it. However, I don’t crave it like the male members in my household. They love their meat. So when it comes to meal planning and trying to increase my daily protein intake, I am always searching for plant-based proteins. I even asked on facebook yesterday what my friends recommended. They had a bunch of recommendations and tips.
I have tried many plant-based protein powders before, and was excited to try the new PUREDGE™ Complete Vegan Protein powder. It is the first 20g plant-based protein with powerful whole-food-based blends that target vital core body systems with nature’s best ingredients for optimum health and exercise performance. It has 10g of aminos from five plant-based sources with no soy, gluten or dairy. GNC PUREDGE™ Complete Vegan contains no artificial flavors, colors or sweeteners, and is available in two flavors: Natural Chocolate, using real cocoa, and Vanilla
I enjoyed blending this up using my go to protein powder recipe and really enjoyed the taste and texture. Yummy. I like that this is plant-based (as I am learning all about plant based protein and nutrition). The protein from this powder comes from soy, pea, hemp, and brown rice.
Plant-Based Proteins can be a great option if you follow a vegetarian or vegan diet or simply want to support lean muscle and total body health. They can be added as an ingredient to your favorite recipes you’re already eating at every meal!
I am not a nutritional expert, nor a foodie… but I do love food and am trying to learn more about nutrition. I am trying to add more healthy protein to my diet, and I am excited to add this new plant-based protein powder to my shakes, smoothies, and baked goods.
I am learning to unearth the power of nature with plant-based proteins. Check out what you can learn about a plant-based diet from this amazing infographic below.

If only I was as good at getting my protein calories as I was when I was pregnant. It can be kind of hit or miss with me. But I do stay mindful of it. When I make smoothies after hard workouts, we do use a protein powder: A Trader Joe’s soy protein blend.

I am terrible at getting enough protein during the day… which is why I am curious about all the plant-based proteins. Hopeful that it will help. I haven’t tried Trader Joe’s.

I’m totally like you. I eat meat but it’s just okay to me. I would probably be a happy vegetarian. I love experimenting with beans, lentils and eggs as my primary protein sources.

Yes! I am glad I am not alone! 🙂 Btw… checking out your ‘comment love link’ and I totally need to check out your sweet potato lentil quinoa cakes recipe! Yum!

I am not vegan or vegetarian but I actually PREFER vegan protein powder over the others. It gives me more energy. I have never heard of this brand. Sounds like a sample taste test coming on. 🙂

Thanks. Yes. Me too! I like the Vegan brands better than products that have whey. 🙂

While I’m not 100% vegan, I still try to get my nutrients through plant based foods as often as possible! I was able to try out the PUREDGE line last month , and I LOVE it. I already finished the energy mix, it was so great!
