Happy Motivate Me Monday! Can you believe that Christmas is only 10 days away! Seriously, where does the time go? On that same note… there are only two and a half weeks left in 2014! It is time to buckle up and finish this ride strong.
Without further ado, below I share what I did for my fitness activities last week as well as what I have planned to do this week. Plus I am sharing my weekly meal plan using the planning method from the 21 Day Fix.
Last Week’s Fitness Plan (What I did):
Monday: 8.28 stroller running miles
Tuesday: nurse Mommy
Wednesday: nurse Mommy
Thursday: 1 mile easy run + full body strength
Friday: 10.25 solo running miles
Saturday: family day
Sunday:rest
My activities mid-week came to a halt when my oldest complained of a sore throat, mild fever, and headache. We visited the urgent care Wednesday night to find out that he indeed had strep throat. Gah! Of course, my children share everything yucky and germ filled… so we made sure to have everyone checked out. Thankfully only two children were down for the count and are currently taking antibiotics.
I pray that myself and my other currently healthy child does not get sick. There is no one to take care of Mommy if she gets sick.
I am thankful for my health, the ability to get out and run the trails (even if I am pushing a jogger or chasing boys on bikes). It has been a wet few weeks here in Northern California, and I am hoping that this outdoor running and training is toughening up my running confidence. Pretty soon I will not be running in sunny California… but the wild and wacky always changing weather of the Midwest.
This Week’s Fitness Plan (What I plan to do):
Monday: Fab5 Bootcamp + 3 easy miles
Tuesday: 5 tempo (treadmill) miles
Wednesday: 3-5 easy miles + strength
Thursday:Easy run w/ friend + bootcamp
Friday: 2-3 easy miles + strength
Saturday: 10 miles chasing the boys on bikes
Sunday: rest
I am really really really trying to get a grasp on my portion control and proper nutrition. I have created a game plan for the week. I know my portion sizes. I have everything set up to clean, cut, prepare and organize. Now… I just need to go grocery shopping! Oh the joys of having children and attempting to shop with a list. Fun times!
I am hopefully optimistic to stick to the nutrition plan. My fitness plan is still iffy. I really want to make sure I get in my 5 mile tempo run and my long run, the other activities I am flexible with.
Do you have a blog? Janice and I would love for you to link up and share with us your game plan for the week. Do you need the accountability and motivation for the week? Come join the #MotivateME movement this week.

I love your meal plan organization! It makes eating so much less stress! I think this will become a thing for me in 2015!

I hope you don’t catch it too! And your meal plan for the week looks great. The 21 Day Fix is a good one to help with portion control. I find it is okay to eat more GREEN if I get hungrier, too. Good for you. Have a wonderful, GERM FREE week! 🙂
TerriAnn @ Cookies & Clogs says
My daughter and I have been trying to play Just Dance 2015 regularly. That gets us both sweating. I hope your boys feel better soon and that more in the house don’t get sick!
Kerri Olkjer says
I hope you all stay well! So tough when the family is sick.
Tammy Litke (@threedifferent) says
I find the holiday season increasingly difficult to watch what I eat and motivate myself to get off my butt! I’m determined though to at least mind my portion sizes until the New Year.
Jessie says
Bless your children’s heart! Hopefully the medication their own kicks in fast & they start feeling 100% better in no time.
I am amazed by the structure of your meal plan. Here I thought just having a dinner plan was good. haha!
Rachel says
Haha. Thanks! We will see how it goes. It is MOnday morning and I STILL need to go grocery shopping and prepare/portion these meal/snack ideas 🙂

I am impressed! You are an inspiration the way that you take care of yourself!

Rachael, I love your plan. I am full time back at Pure Barre and incorporating running. I wish I could be a meal planner for myself and the family. I honestly just wing it every night, so I need to have many ingredients in the house. LOL
diane says
You are inspiring! I find it so hard to stick to a nutrition and exercise plan during the holidays!
Raijean says
Let me see if I can keep up with you this week. I look forward to these posts.
Courtney @ Eat Pray Run DC says
wow, i am so impressed by how detailed your meal plan is. my version of meal planning is picking what 2 or 3 things i will make for dinner for the week and then purchasing accordingly at the grocery. 🙂
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
My daughter is sick too! I think everyone is. I like how you map out your fitness and meal plans. I need to work on better portions this time of year too.
Kim Croisant says

I am impressed. I really need to come down with a plan to eat healthier and get up and move.
Stephanie says
I hope your kids are better. Nothing is more challenging than trying to keep up with exercise and healthy eating as when you have to be nurse Mommy! You seemed to be on track though.
katie says
I always have good intentions of meal planning but I never do that good of a job!
Farrah says
I have the hardest time with portion control too! I think I eat enough to feed a small family of 4. 😡 Meal prepping + planning has definitely helped with that, but I’m nowhere near as organized as you! The type A in me loves how neatly put together your chart is! :]
Janette says
Oh man! My kids health is a big determiner about how the week is going to be! You look pretty much on track for awesome-ness!
katrina g says
you are doing amazing. i try to do as much as I can but due to medical problems, i am very limited.
Jessica Beal Harlow says
I love your meal plan organization! Proper portion control is definitely one of my weaknesses and I have to be diligent about it to keep it in check!
Colleen says
I love that you set aside your plans to take care of your baby 🙂 Great job.

You are so inspiring! I’m trying so hard to come up with a low-carb veggie plan.. without that I keep breaking it. I’m going to create something like yours now..
jill conyers says
Good luck with the portion control thing. It’s tough but with time portion size can become second nature.
Tea says
You should be proud for doing this:)
RFC says
Fingers crossed that your whole family starts to feel better soon!!! My fitness week will likely include lots of treadmill running. Yaay winter!
Donna says
I wish I could be so organized and do an exercise and meal plans in advance… because I can definitely see how it would keep you on track.
vanessa: thequeenofswag says
You’re so organized with your meals and fitness plan. I can only dream of being so organized one day.
eliz frank says
You eat well, you exercise and you’re a busy mom. I wouldn’t worry about a little cold, you’ll be fine. If you catch it, your immune system will kick in and help you recover.
Rachel says
Thank you. I was not sick. My boys were sick with strep throat. 😉
Eliz Frank says
I know you’re not sick Rachel. 🙂 I was responding to your concern that if you get sick who will take care of you. Hence my “If you catch it” line. Hope the little ones are feeling better. 🙂
Janice - Fitness Cheerleader says

So sorry your kids have been sick. Mine are under the weather too and it definitely puts a damper on plans. Sounds like you still were able to make it a pretty active week.
