Happy Monday Ya’ll! And what is even more crazy… Happy December 1st friends!! Can you believe that we have less than a month till we start the new year!? Pure craziness! How are you doing on those resolutions and fitness goals you set 11 months ago?
Reality check… I am in the same boat as many of you. I am scrambling to get back on that wagon to reach a health/fitness/weight loss goal! Where is my rewind button? Nothing’s holding me back anymore… I know what I want. I have a plan. I am going to do it.
Another week means another week for me to share with you my weekly fitness and meal plan. I thrive on accountability and motivation, which is why I love sharing my weekly goal plan with you… because it helps me stay accountable.
Let me tell you… I need the accountability the most this time of year! There are so many distractions and obligations that deter me from my health and fitness goals.
I often feel like the dog from Up (image above). I am often distracted by life’s demands and my health and fitness goals often get pushed aside. Sharing my fitness plan (and achievements) with you help hold me accountable. This is why I love the fitness community and this weekly link up called #MotivateME that happens every Monday.
Without further ado, here is my weekly fitness and meal plan… and what I did last week (for the whole #holidaysweat and accountability thing I mentioned above). I am still working on my endurance phase (working on my aerobic base) before jumping into big marathon training for Boston which will start after the holidays.
Last Week’s Fitness Plan (What I did):
Monday: Fab5 Boot camp with friends + 3 easy miles on treadmill
Tuesday: 5.5 treadmill miles
Wednesday: lower body strength circuit with friends
Thursday: 5K Turkey Trot with the Family + 1 mile post dinner walk
Friday: 7 trail running miles with friends
Saturday: 3.5 power walk solo miles
Sunday: family day rainy day rest day
This Week’s Fitness Plan (What I plan to do):
Monday: Fab5 Boot camp with friends + afternoon workout (depending on AM workout)
Tuesday: 4 easy miles + 20 back ext + 60 SU + 3×5 asst pull-ups
Wednesday: 6×800 + plank + F/B squat 5×5
Thursday: 20 Min AMRAMP + shoulder press 5×5
Friday: 4 mile tempo run + hollow rock + back ext
Saturday: 6 miles chasing boys on bikes + plank + back ext
Sunday: 10 Min AMRAMP
My meal plan this week is pretty kid friendly. Keeping it real, cooking multi course and gourmet meals for three little boys isn’t that much fun… especially when they won’t eat it. So… our meals will be kid friendly. Here is my weekly dinner menu plan:
Monday: Soup & Salad
Tuesday: Taco Night
Wednesday: Loaded Baked Potato
Thursday: Chili Frito Pie
Friday: Family tradition Pizza Night
Saturday: Breakfast for Dinner
Come and share your goals and plans with Janice and I this week… share with us how YOU are staying active with #MotivateME Monday!
Amanda - RunToThefinish says
every friday really is pizza night right?! I’ve tried making our own, but D just isn’t on board he wants frozen pizza…so all righty he can have it 🙂
Rachel says
Yes. My husband’s favorite food is pizza… so ever since we have been married (going on 12 years now)… every Friday is Pizza Night. 😉 Very rarely is there a variance to that night’s meal. It DOES make for easy planning! 🙂
Larisa Dixon (@0to26point2) says
I loved seeing your family turkey trot pics. Love that you keep your kids active. That is one of my goals in life is to make sure that my kids stay active. I need to start planning meals. Do you tend to stick to it better when planning it out?
Rachel says
I totally stick to my FITNESS routine best when it is laid out with a plan. My dinner meals YES… having a plan makes for a less stressful ‘witching hour’ because I know what we are having for dinner and (usually) I have all the ingredients for dinner.
I need to get in the habit (start) planning ALL my meals so I don’t swing through the drive through because I am hungry 😉
Kerri Olkjer says
I am mildly freaking out that it’s December! I feel like I need to cram 5,000,003 things into this month, lol. I’m with you, I so need the accountability this time of year.
Penelope says
Chasing boys on bikes does sound very motivating, if they are handsome 😉
Rachel says
haha… yes. I think they are! 🙂
Heather @ FITaspire says
I LOVE that you have a weekly pizza night, how fun is that?! I am behind after extra fun this weekend and need to put together my own meal plan for the week. 🙂
Erica G says
My family would LOVE your taco and pizza nights! Yes, making meals kids will eat is tough and my daughter is pretty good with a lot of foods but yet so picky at the same time.
Elle says
We have been doing pizza nights on Saturday lately. I found some great gluten free pizzas with just cheese on them at Costco so can dress them up any way I like. And The Captain has a line of frozen pizzas that he likes too so it’s all good. And simple.
Have a fun and active week!
Jen @ Pretty Little Grub says
You’ve got a busy workout schedule. Do you take rest days?
Your weekly meal plan looks super yummy.
Rachel says
Yes, I take rest days (usually on Sundays and Thursdays). This week I have planned a lot of strength training … so if I am feeling edgy/cranky (it is supposed to rain this week and I get in a funk during the gloomy weather) I will work out my bad mood 😉
Deborah @ Confessions of a Mother Runner says
There are so many distractions this time of year huh? I always wish there was an extra week to recover after Thanksgiving. Looks like you are staying pretty active and on track. Have a great day 🙂
Sandra Laflamme says
Loaded baked potatoes are great! Wish my kids liked them more 🙁
I am in a slump too as I am nursing a weird back injury, ugh! Hoping it will be short-lived. The 3 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas are going to be nuts so here’s hoping we can all stay on track!
MCM Mama says
I swear I cooked four different meals tonight – ugh. If I’m lucky, we have overlap of what everyone is eating, but sometimes that doesn’t happen. Keep up the good work on building your fitness!
katie says
Every friday is pizza night because I’m done cooking by Friday! 🙂
Raijean says
Ok, I’m going to join you this week. I cooked a pot of cabbage and beans.

My friend and I have mapped out our workout plan for the month and scheduled when we’re getting together to sweat. It holds us both accountable. We’ve gone ahead and scheduled our workouts before all the holiday parties.
Jess@Flying Feet says
I am enjoying the #MotivateMe Mondays! It’s helpings stay accountable too. Like you, I’m in endurance building mode before training for the R’n’R marathon in Nashville.
Diatta @ Femme Fitale Fit Club says
Your children will eat soup for a meal? I do tacos at least once a week because it is good and tasty. YUM!! How do you make your loaded potato?
Janice- The Fitness Cheerleader says
Great job my friend! I love your weekly plan, we have pizza every Friday night too. My hubby has also unfortunately learned that the nearby pasta restaurant offers $2 kids meals on Tuesdays. For our family that’s almost cheaper than cooking 🙁
Crystal says
I wasn’t sure if I was setting myself up for failure by trying to make some healthier choices & limiting sweets during the holiday season. It’s been easy to stay accountable so far, but we are still weeks away from Christmas.
Jenn says
The squirrel picture is totally me. I can get distracted pretty easily sometimes.
TerriAnn @ Cookies & Clogs says
Great idea to plan it all out and keep it varied. Sometimes boredom or just not being prepared leads to not doing anything at all.
Colleen says
We have done Pizza night for Fridays for quite some time. I usually don’t eat it I’m not a big Pizza eater myself.
HilLesha says
It is so easy to get distracted, especially this time of year ! Therefore, I can totally relate to that squirrel picture. 🙂
Tammy Litke (@threedifferent) says
I’m a week late to this post, which is too bad, because….I wanted to eat at your house last week!! Yumm… (we’re just big kids at heart when it comes to food in our home 🙂 ). I actually stuck to more of an exercise routine than I have in a long time this past week. Which is Ah-mazing for me because I hate to exercise. But the number on the scale…is not looking good, nor are the tight pants 😉
