Earlier this week, I enjoyed another brutally awesome Fab5 boot camp workout. We did a lot of running this week, and enjoyed a few fun mini WODs during the duration of our workout. One of the fun and intense workouts we did was a 10 minute workout that you went as hard as you could as many times as you could… for the duration of the 10 minutes.
This would be a great workout to do at the park… with our without your kiddos!
When you are running (you can run 200 meters or 100 meters… whatever you have available near you), focus on quick feet and quick turnover. You are working on speed (think 5K race pace or faster) while maintaining your running form. Lean slightly forward and try to land on the balls (toes) of your feet.
Focus on form more than speed when it comes to your rest strength portion.
For burpees, we did not do crossfit burpees. We did the basic burpess where you land in a plank (no push-up), hop up to a squat position and jump, landing in a squat position. Repeat 5x.
Focus on proper form getting as deep as you can without breaking form on your squats. Repeat 10x.
Push-ups can be modified on your knees if you choose, make sure you keep a flat back and maintain proper form. Or you can do them on your toes in plant position for more of a challenge. Repeat 5x.
When you are done with your strength portion, stand up and start running all over again. Then you will repeat this cycle for the duration of the 10 minutes! It is a great heart pumping workout that will leave you breathless! It did me and my girlfriends!
I know I enjoyed it and am feeling the effects of a great workout today as I type! I hope you enjoy it too!

Love these DO ANYWHERE workouts. And I hate burpees, but great addition. 🙂

Honestly the shorter and intense it is the better it is for me. I just can’t prolong the agony. LOL. Great workout!! #wowlinkup

I love blasting calories in 10 minutes! This is perfect for those days that are just too hectic and you just cannot get out for a run!

This is so great ! I love workouts you can do with (or without) the kids. My boys think burpees are the best thing ever, haha

I prefer short bursts of intense workouts over longer ones! If there is a way for me to actually feel like I’ve worked out in a shorter amount of time and I am still able to get stuff done for the day then bring it on! That’s also what keeps me motivated to continue working out – because it’s not seen as a chore. #wowlinkup

I love the idea of being able to get a good workout in, in only 10 minutes, but… I detest burpees! I hurt myself 2 different times in the past doing them and won’t do them again. Ever. 🙂

I usually don’t have an issue with a workout, unless there’s push-ups involved. I have always hated those with a passion. 🙂

Thanks for sharing! 10 Minutes is definitely something I can pull off on these crazy busy days.

I know I need to get over it, but I’m so self-conscious working out at the park. The kids love to go and it would be a great use of my time. It’s not to early to start making resolutions, is it?
Liz Mays says
I think I like a combination of the two. Sometimes I do long ones, but other times I want to just get the intensity going.
Ty says
For me, I’d rather workout in short burst — it’s all about getting it done and the quicker the better, especially when someone needs something every five minutes lol.
Colleen says
I so can not do burpees! I so need to get in better shape.
Jenn says
I think the shorter workouts are easier to manage when I’m crunched for time.
Heather@ Divas Run for Bling says
I love the shorter intense workouts as I don’t always have enough time to get my running AND cross-training in. Great workout! #wowlinkup
Theresa @ Faith and Family Reviews says
I need a ten minute workout, but burpees kill me.

I have heard circuit training like this works wonders. Looks like a great way to get a workout in on those all too frequent busy days!
