Fall is here and one of our family’s favorite fall activities is to visit local a local pumpkin patch. Being that we are still relatively new to the Sacramento area (2 years), we haven’t explored all the great pumpkin patches and farms the area has to offer. After church, the boys and I met some good friends for an afternoon of memory making at Fog Willows Farm in Wilton, California.
This was a very small venue, in comparison with other large pumpkin patches we have explored over the years. The cost to get in was $4 per person (ages 4 and up). Once you were on the farm, all the activities were free for the children (and adults) to enjoy.
The first thing my boys wanted to do was climb on the pyramid of hay bails. Afterwards they enjoyed playing at the playground. The play ground was great to wiggle, climb, explore, get dirty, and even ride tire horses.
There was a petting zoo. Rather a place where you could pet miniature goats. They were a lot of fun and the boys all enjoyed petting them… and giggled when the goats attempted to eat their clothes. There were a lot of farm animals that you could look at with your eyes but not pet: cows, chickens, rabbits, bees, and more. We stuck to the goats primarily… because touching and feeling are a favorite past time of the boys.
You had the option to ride the cow train or a regular hay ride pulled by a tractor. The boys waited patiently, in the hot sun, to ride the cows that were towed behind the tractor. They had a great time bouncing along the dirt trail.
As with all great pumpkin patches, there were amazing photo opportunities for family photos. I forgot my good camera but managed to snap a few fun brother photos with my phone.
My goofy monkeys are always game for a fun photo opp. It also helps that they are so darn cute!
We had a great time making memories with friends. I am blessed that my boys have such amazing friends, and I am thankful that I love their friends mother. It works out really well that way. Thankful for friendships and making memories at the pumpkin farm.
