October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and a sea of pink can be seen all around. I love that it brings awareness to this disease, and Skechers Performance Division proudly supports the American Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer with a special collection of their products. They have designed specific shoes to celebrate those who use sports and fitness to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
Skechers sent me a pair of their GOrun 3 Awareness shoes ($85 MSRP) to try, run in, and share my opinions with you.
The Skechers GOrun 3 are designed for speed with innovative performance technologies to promote a midfoot strike. It fosters a barefoot running experience while offering cushioning and impact protection.
This shoe has a minimal feel with a 4mm heel drop to bring you closer to a natural barefoot experience. I have run 6 miles in these shoes and they are comfortable and flexible. It does not offer a lot of support or cushion, much like most minimalist shoes on the market. I will be using these shoes mainly for the treadmill or shorter distance workouts.
If the Skechers brand is good enough for Meb Kaflegzi and his Boston Marathon win… they are good enough for me.
Breast Cancer Awareness and Sketchers
In addition to the “Awareness” footwear and apparel line, Skechers Performance Division supporting American Cancer Society in several ways:
1. Skechers Performance Division is offering a donation to American Cancer Society, and all of the Skechers Performance Division Awareness apparel and footwear will feature the ACS logo and messaging.
2. Skechers is hosting the American Cancer Society San Francisco Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, and will be donating a percentage of proceeds from the sales of Skechers shoes on-site that day.
3. Skechers is launching a register round-up program in Skechers Retail stores in which customers can round up their purchase to the nearest whole dollar to benefit American Cancer Society for the entire month of October. If consumers donate $5 or more, they will also receive a 20% off discount for their next visit. This will offer anyone shopping for any item in a Skechers retailer store the opportunity to give back and support the cause.
4. Skechers Retail stores are offering a gift with purchase for customers who purchase a pair of limited-edition Awareness shoes. The gift with purchase will be either a breast canvas awareness canvas tote back or a pink water bottle.
The Skechers awareness shoes cover a variety of fitness needs: walking, running, and fitness. They are super cute with pink and grey coloring with the added detail of the pink ribbon. I personally feel that the price tag is affordable, and you can check out their products and help out a great cause (while adding to your fitness closet) by clicking here.
As always, it is always a great thing to donate to a charity that is near and dear to your heart. You can purchase this brand (which a portion of the proceeds go to the American Cancer Society) or you can give directly to the charity of your choice… so all your funds go to them. The choice is yours. The end goal is the same for both methods… to find a cure for breast cancer.
Thank you to Skechers for sponsoring today’s post and inspiring me to try their shoes in support of the fight to end breast cancer.
