Choosing to live a healthy lifestyle is a choice I must make daily. Making three small changes to my daily routine are healthy choices I am making in Sacramento: drinking more water, eating fresh local produce, and finding time for fitness.
Three Small Simple Changes for Healthy Living
Drink More Water.
We all know that water is good for you. I don’t need to explain or go into detail why you should drink more water. I have found that when I drink a gallon of water each day, I feel better.
On this particular morning, T-man helped me pick out my gallon of water at our local Walgreens, before we headed out for our adventure of hitting the farmers market and trails with friends.
I personally find that when I fill up a gallon sized jug of water and put it in the refrigerator… it keeps me on track with drinking my gallon of water each day. Knowing that I must drink all the water in that jug before I go to bed is a challenge I like to give myself each day.
Eat Local.
Eat more fresh produce: fruits and veggies. Support your local farmers market. There is a great farmer’s market just south of Sacramento in Galt that we frequent each week. I love the sights, smells, sounds, and cultural melting pot one can experience at these markets. Plus when you support local businesses and farmers, you also save money on your produce! Winning!
Move more.
Get out in nature. Breathe in the fresh air. Go for a hike, a bike ride, a run. Move. My children love and need to move in a physical activity each day. This morning we explored the Consumnes River Preserve with friends. We hiked around and observed nature, found critters, and just enjoyed being out in nature together.
When I drink more water, eat fresh produce and move during my day… I feel better: physically, mentally and physically. These three simple changes help me live a healthy lifestyle during my day to day life.
Filling up a gallon of water in a jug (or even pretty container) or purchasing a jug from the store, help keep me on track and accountable to drink my water during the day.
Supporting local farmers at the farmers market, help not only my pocket book… but also my waist line by choosing to eat fresh produce picked locally.
Making movement a daily activity helps everyone get their wiggles out, feel better, and sleep better at the end of the day!
These three simple healthy changes are helping me with my health and fitness goals.

I definitely find that drinking more water is the biggest game-changer for me. I can always tell when I’m lagging because it totally leaves me dragging. Thankfully, this pregnancy, the little bun has me craving ice water and ice cubes like a beast so I’ve been getting plenty of hydration!

That’s awesome, Rachel! I’m going to have to get in on this…I could always drink more water. I cut out all soda, but I still drink apple or grape juice because sometimes I just don’t want water. I’m looking for healthier options.

I was doing a metabolism reset that forced me to drink water last week and I realized how little I was drinking so now drinking more is a huge goal of mine.

These are perfect three healthy tips. There are times that I am craving soda though most of the time I drink water, also work out and local food is the best.

Ugh I’ve been so bad about drinking water lately. There have been days where it gets to like noon before I realize I have yet to have a sip of water. And I’ve been eating like junk the past week. I really have to step it up!

Drinking more water, eating the fresh local produce and spending some time for fitness. Go for it! You can’t go wrong with those. I’d try walking though. You could do this anywhere, any old time!
